The Self Love Tag

12 Jun 2017

One of my New Years goals was to practise self love a bit more and I'll be honest, I'm failing a little bit. I won't go into it too much right now, but I'm having a lot of negative thoughts at the minute and I feel as though I'm going nowhere fast. So when the lovely Caroline tagged me to do this tag, I was looking forward to thinking and chatting about things that make me happy and feel good!

Without further ado, the rules of this tag are to answer all of the questions and then tag 5 people that you think should answer them too. How easy is that? Let's get to it!

  1. What is something that is getting you down at the moment? I've got some quite deep body issues that have been around since I was teenager that are rearing their ugly heads right now. It's something I'd managed to suppress for a long time and I thought I'd finally learned to be comfortable with myself, but it's something that I'm actively working on now.
  2. What is something that makes you happy? There's quite a lot things! Mainly, I love baking, going for walks and cross stitching, but I also love to write, sketch and do yoga.
  3. Name 3 guilty pleasures! I'm obsessed with playing Pokemon Go (I'm not even sure if that counts as a guilty pleasure), listening to the likes of Heart and Smooth on my car radio, and singing all of the musical soundtrack songs I know. I'm such a musical junkie and I'm pretty certain that I drive J insane with my Phantom of the Opera renditions.
  4. What is something about yourself you want to improve on? My body - namely my wobbly arms and a bit of my belly jiggle. Those are really the only two parts of my body that severely get me down! I'd also really like to improve my mental health.
  5. When was the last time you belly laughed? It was the other night actually. I went out for tea with the ladies from work and the assistant manager got a bit tipsy. She was making a heck of a lot of rude jokes and my face was aching from laughing so much!
  6. What is your biggest insecurity/fear? Failure and disappointing myself as well as others. I'm a very driven and ambitious person, so failure and being a disappointment is something that plagues me quite a lot!
  7. Name a song that always cheers you up when you're down. Grace Kelly by Mika. Say what you want about Mika, you definitely can't listen to this song and feel sad.
  8. Name 3 things you like about yourself! I really like my eyes a heck of a lot. I also really like how driven and organised I am. (I know the question only asks for 3, but I also think my legs are pretty bomb.)
  9. What is an achievement that has made you proud of yourself this year? Making the decision on my own to leave my first salary job and follow my baking dream.
  10. Tell us your happiest memory. There's probably lots and lots that I just can't remember, but off the top of my head, the trip we took to Edinburgh Fringe a couple of years ago (I think it might've been 2013) was pretty magical. My family, J and I booked a gorgeous apartment on Air BnB and stayed in Edinburgh for a couple of days. The weather was beautiful and we saw some amazing shows, and it was just a really great time all round.
I really enjoyed answering these questions and I think that Steph, Rebecca, Josie, Maria and Chloe would too!
Thank you again to Caroline for tagging me. I'm really looking forward to see if this tag takes off because it's so important to talk about about self love, so if you fancy doing the tag too, give it a whirl!

Whould you like to comment?

  1. Self love is so, so important! I am also a Musical Junkie and there is nothing that a bit of Wicked or Kinky boots can't fix! Keep loving yourself as you're fab! xox

    1. I've actually never seen or heard any of the music from Kinky Boots, but I feel like I'm massively missing out! Thanks so much for your lovely comment, Amber x
