October 2019 Gratitude List - Teesside & Tech

1 Nov 2019

Another month has been and gone, so it's my favourite time again - gratitude list time! If you've been here for a little while, you'll know how these work, but if not, let me divulge. At the start of each month, I take a look back over the month just gone and pick out five things that I was particularly grateful for. It's a lovely way of saying goodbye to the month, but also reminds me to be happy and thankful for the little things!

October was weird. I felt like it should've been a really good month (O for Olivia and October, and all that jazz) and it wasn't a bad month, but there was just something about it. I don't know if it was the whole 'we're coming to the end of the year and what have I achieved?' type of thing, or if I was simply just a bit all over the place, but it'd been a bit of a rollercoaster.

That being said, there were some really great things and some lovely little things to be thankful for, so take a look at my list!

  1. Attending Twisterella - I feel like I've bleated on about my time at Twisterella Festival way too much, so I really am very sorry, but I honestly had such a blast. I was ever so kindly given guestlist access to this festival and it was the first time I'd ever been along, so I had no idea what to expect. I ended up absolutely loving it and I'm already stupidly excited for next year's. You can take a read of my full post to find out more about the festival and what my experience was like, but spoiler, it was a good'un!
  2. Having the balls to quit the pill - yep, I've finally done it. Me and the pill have broken up, and it's only been a few days since I stopped (a week and a bit if you include my usual 7 day break), so I don't have too much to report on right now. However, you can take a look at my original post to find out why I wanted to quit or my most recent pill post, which talks about how I felt on the day that I took my final pill. I've got high hopes that I'll see positive changes in my body and mental health though, so make sure you stick around to find out how I get on.
  3. Buying an iPhone 11 - this sounds so ridiculous and materialistic, but I'm seriously grateful for my new phone. I'd been using an iPhone 6 for years and when I say it was battered, I mean it was truly battered. I'd dropped it whilst I was at uni, so the screen was smashed to bits, there were areas that didn't work and chunks of the glass had actually fallen out. It was a real state. But after years of scraping by, it finally gave up on me this month, so I thought 'go big or go home' and went for an iPhone 11. I'm so happy with my choice and I'm totally loving all the new features, especially having a screen that works!
  4. Crisp autumn mornings - while I'm cross that the nights are dark at like 4PM now that the clocks have gone back, I've been loving the crisp mornings. There's nothing quite like the bite in the air, the golden sunlight and the mist on the fields. It's such a magical time of the year and I really love it. Autumn was definitely made for me!
  5. Feeling the local pride - October has been a big 'I love living in Teesside' month. I've said it so many times before, but our neck of the woods gets such a bad wrap and it's frustrating. I love living here and I want everyone to see all the good bits that I see! As well as Twisterella, we also went to the World Parmo Championships at Middlesbrough's Town Hall, I did an ad for Nightfall (which I'm SO excited for), we went to the launch of a new independent bistro, and so much more. It was a fab month for us Teessiders and I hope that I've been able to get that across through my blog and socials!

Like I said, while October was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, there were some really lovely things to be happy about. I'm hoping for just as many great and exciting things in the last two months of 2019, so I'll meet you back here in a month's time to chat about November.

What were you grateful for in October?
