February 2021 Gratitude List - Sun, Roadmaps & Valentine’s

Wow, February was a month. While it was the shortest month of the year, it feels like there was so much packed into the space of 28 days. But because we're in March now, a.k.a. the best month of the year, A.K.A. MY BIRTHDAY MONTH, it's time to have a look back over February and pick out all of the things that I was most grateful for. And let me tell you, there were a fair few things that I could pick from, but I've managed to whittle it down to five things, so we can keep this list short and sweet.

  1. Having a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel - I think we can all agree, one of the best things that happened in February was BoJo's roadmap announcement. While I'm still a little bit apprehensive and confused about how things can go back to normal so quickly, it's good to know that there is a possibility of us getting back out there and living properly again. I, for one, am absolutely buzzing at the prospect of going to a restaurant and actually being able to sit in. And go to the cinema. And go to gigs. And do all the other stuff that I used to love and have missed during the past year.
  2. Starting CBT - I debated whether to include this on my gratitude list or not because it isn't something I like to talk about publicly too much, but yep, like a lot of other people, I don't have the best mental health. And being in lockdown has only made it worse and it got to a point where I finally realised that I should probably stop sitting on the feelings and actually talk to someone about it. So I started CBT about 3 weeks ago on the day that I'm writing this, and so far, while it's only been virtual sessions, it's been pretty helpful. It's been interesting to learn about how all the feelings work and how they can affect our physical being, and basically just feel not so alone.
  3. Valentine's Day - listen, I don't usually do Valentine's Day and never look at it as a big deal, but with being in the house, I quite liked having something to look forward to. And it was pretty much like any other day in lockdown - we did the whole 'go out for a walk' thing, watched films and had a lie in - but we also ordered Ding burgers and actually got all dressed up (with makeup and everything!). It was a really lovely day and it was very much needed to break up all the mundane daily stuff.
  4. Better weather - it's so funny that in my January gratitude list, I said that I was looking forward to the snow going away. But at the start of February, we were completely inundated with snow! However, towards the end of the month, the sun started to peek out more and the temperature actually got into double digits! We had a gorgeous couple of hours in Yarm and enjoyed the sun - it could've been summer, honestly! Let's have more of this in March please, especially on the 28th - you know, for my birthday...
  5. The support on my Independent Tees Collective series - I don't know what it was, but during February, my Independent Tees Collective series had some amazing support. Each piece had countless shares, comments and likes on social media, and every single post in the series so far has hundreds of views with the numbers continuing to climb every day. Some of them even have over 1000 views, which is just incredible! It warms my heart to see people talking about and sharing our local businesses, and hopefully discovering new ones. The series was a little idea that I had towards the end of last year and I'm so glad that it's been warmly received.

And that was February in a nut shell. It was a pretty good month and it's set me up nicely for March. I've got high hopes for this month - we've got Mother's Day, a cool collaboration coming up and my birthday, so it should be a good'un. I'll see you back here in a few weeks to talk all about it!

What were you grateful for in February?
