March 2021 Gratitude List - Birthday Celebrations & Family Time

1 Apr 2021

My gosh, I feel like I blinked and March was over! It's definitely gone way too quick and I can't quite believe it's April. I feel like March was so full of happy moments, but also so full of busy and non-stop movement, which is probably why it's absolutely whizzed by. But it's the beginning of April and you all know what that means... it's time for a new gratitude list!

I feel like March is always a good month and it's probably mainly because it's my birthday month, so I spend the whole month reminding everyone that I'm turning a year older. But there was so much more to March 2021 than just my birthday, so have a read of what I was grateful for in the past month

  1. My 27th birthday celebrations - like I say, March is my birthday month and I spent almost every day reminding the people around me that my birthday was coming up. I booked myself in for a 4 day weekend, which was absolutely needed, and it was the best weekend I've had in a long time. I pretty much spent the whole 4 days eating, exploring Saltburn, and enjoying the slightly warmer weather that we had. Despite it technically being my second lockdown birthday, it was really bloomin' lovely and I couldn't have asked for more. Matthew made sure it was special, then I got to see my family the day after my actual birthday, so it was perfect.
  2. The rule of 6 - I'm sick of restrictions now, so I was grateful for the rule of 6 coming into play on March 29th. This was the day after my birthday and it meant that I got to see my family, which was something that couldn't happen last year. I went rockpooling with my goddaughters, had fish and chips with my mum and sister, and had a little mini party in my mum's garden. It was exactly what I needed and it felt so good to see them properly. Zoom quizzes just aren't enough! I'm also pleased about the rule of 6 because it means that I'll get to visit my mum on her birthday in a couple of weeks. Thanks, BoJo!
  3. My small business pals - I was well and truly spoiled on my birthday, and there were a few lovely surprises, but I'm not sure anything could come close to the surprise that my small business pals put together for me. The ladies behind Blondie Baker, Miss Moneypenny's Cheesecakes, Fudge It, LaLa Bakes and Knots & Crosses conspired, and put together the most beautiful hamper for me. Honestly, I can't even tell you how emotional I felt on Blondie Baker's doorstep as she handed it to me, and how much I cried in the car on the way home. I just couldn't believe how kind it was and how amazing the people I talk to are. The whole bunch of them are just fabulous and I will forever be grateful.
  4. Kind readers - along with the surprise from my small biz friends, March also saw me receive a load of appreciative messages from my kind readers. It might sound silly, but sometimes, I put things out into the world and I never know how they're gonna go or whether people will even read them. It's easy to get disheartened when posts don't get the views or shares that you expect, but all of that disappears when I get a message, telling me that someone loves what I've done. Throughout March, I've had people tell me that they've discovered new places, that they're new to the area and have loved my recommendations, or that they've heard about my blog from their friends. It's just so incredibly lovely and it makes this all so worthwhile.
  5. Discovering new businesses - the thing I love most about the position I'm in is that it's so easy to discover new businesses. In March, I found an influx of new people, mainly via Instagram, and I've fallen head over heels with a bunch of them. To name just a few - check out Amare Patisserie for some of the best chocolates I've ever had, The Concrete Edit for gorgeous concrete homeware (I've got my eye on a tray), and To The Moon for beautiful resin coasters.

I really loved March and I'm kind of sad to be saying goodbye to it, but it's onwards and upwards from here! We're moving into the next quarter of the year, so let's hope to keep up that momentum and more happy months.

What were you grateful for in March?
