May 2021 Gratitude List - Sun & Sit In Dining

4 Jun 2021

Guys, it's officially June, and I don't want to be that person, but we're nearly halfway through 2021. How on Earth did that happen? I feel like I was only celebrating my birthday a few weeks ago! Nonetheless, I'm embracing these mid-year months with open arms. And as we are saying goodbye to May, it's time for me to reflect and talk about the things I was grateful for in the past month.

  1. Lockdown restrictions easing - not so long ago, I was the anxious girl who was terrified of going out when the first round of restrictions eased in April. But fast forward to now, I've been loving eating out, both indoors and outdoors, and we got to have our first cinema trip since the first lockdown! We both love going to the cinema and the whole experience of it, and we had some free tickets to use, so of course, we had to go and see the new Cruella (which is absolutely fabulous, I highly recommend). It's been so good to get back to normality and we've booked a whole load of restaurants to visit in the coming weeks.
  2. The sunshine - I'm one of those lucky people that go lobster red in the sun, but there's something to be said about the way the sun makes you feel. The end of May and into the start of June saw a little heatwave, and it was so lovely to feel the warmth. Even just having the door to the garden open while I work has been so lovely and refreshing, so the sun was definitely a welcome addition to the month.
  3. Telephone CBT - a few gratitude lists ago, I said that I was having CBT. Back then, it was simply online and it was like a weekly journal that a therapist would look over and leave comments on. I've since moved on to telephone CBT and my therapist is a lovely Geordie lady who is very patient when I don't know how to articulate. I'm still finding it helpful and it's quite nice to have a conversation with her once a week, but I'm not sure if the CBT frameworks are for me yet. I'll report back!
  4. The Hard Rock press event - I am a Hard Rock tourist, and I love visiting cafes in new cities. So when I saw one was opening in Newcastle, I was buzzing and knew I wanted to see what it had to offer. Well, imagine how chuffed I was when I got invited to the press event! It was so lovely to see some of my blog friends again, sample some of the Hard Rock food, and get a tour round the building (which is stunning, by the way). We're already booked in for lunch, so I'm looking forward to that, and also updating my Hard Rock pin collection. It has to be done!
  5. Borrow My Doggy - after a lunch date with a pal from work, my eyes were opened to the world of Borrow My Doggy, a platform where dog owners can find people willing to walk or look after their dog. I didn't think there'd be anyone nearby, given that we live in the middle of nowhere, but lo and behold, we now look after Red the cockapoo a couple of times a week, and it's been lovely. It means that I have a little friend while I work at home, and it forces us to get out for a decent walk on a lunch time. He's so cuddly and affectionate, and he's been such an amazing thing to have in our lives (although I'm glad we get to give him back because there's only so much pawing and barking I can take).
And that's what my May looked like! It was a mixed bag, but it was so lovely and laidback. I'm really looking forward to June though and we're officially on the stretch to Matthew's birthday, so I need to get planning!

What were you grateful for in June?
