June 2021 Gratitude List - New Job & Drones

5 Jul 2021

We're full steam ahead into the second half of 2021, but at the same time, it feels like June went on forever. I think it's partly because a lot of things happened that I was absolutely revelling in, but also because the world slightly opened up again, so I had lots of plans to fill up my time. So as you can imagine, it's been a pretty lovely month and it's time to tell you all about it in this gratitude list.

  1. A new job - do you know when you see an opportunity, even though you weren't looking, and you just can't stop thinking about it? This is what happened to me and it was stuck on my mind so much that I thought I'd shoot my shot. To cut a long story, an application, two presentations, and an interview later, I was accepted for a truly dreamy job that I can't wait to start in August. Think digital media, local people, arts and culture, and getting stuck in to lots of different projects. I know for certain that you'll be hearing a lot more about it once I'm properly into the swing of things, but just know that I'm absolutely buzzing.
  2. Investing into our side business - something I don't talk about much on here is the little business that Matthew and I run, Pyro Media. We offer videography and live streaming for a whole host of things, including weddings, business promos, corporate events, musicians - you name it, we'll do our best to facilitate it. But in June, we invested in a drone, which doesn't sound all that major, but it's taking our services to the next level. I'm really looking forward to everything we're going to do with it, and plus, it's lovely to see Matthew enjoying the new toy like a big kid.
  3. Filming with Enjoy Tees Valley - if I've said it once, I'll say it again, I will never get over the wild adventures that this blogging thing takes me on. Enjoy Tees Valley needed 'real' Tees folk for their new campaign, and invited me along to get involved in their filming and photos. Keep your eyes peeled for me having cocktails in GoonDock's and The Spa Hotel in Saltburn on their socials!
  4. Filling my calendar - this might sound a bit daft, but I've absolutely loved being able to fill up my calendar with events and days out again. I love being at home, but I much prefer getting out and about, so we've been booking alllll of the dates, making notes of markets, looking into events nearby, and jam-packing in as much as possible. We're both explorers at heart and want to do absolutely everything, so it feels great to be able to do that again.
  5. CBT - I know this got a mention in my last gratitude list, but I can't even express to you how useful I have found my CBT sessions. While I do still think it's quite technique-heavy and general for me, and I probably need to talk about past events with someone, rather than focusing on breathing, it really has worked wonders. Yes, I still have wobbles and down days, but having that call every week has made a lot of difference. I'm nearing the end of my sessions now, so I'll need to have a think about any further support, but yeah, my therapist is fab and I've enjoyed all of our sessions.

Now we're heading into July and I've got so many things in the pipeline for the next few weeks/month, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates. But as you can see, June was pretty sweet and I'm hoping for more of the same throughout the end of the year.

What were you grateful for in June?
