About The Northernist
The Northernist is a Teesside-based blogger, who loves nothing more than shouting about the local area through food, lifestyle and events, as well as chatting about her own journey through life’s twists and turns.
Originally founded in 2016, The Northernist began as a place for Olivia (that’s me – I know, third person is so weird, but it’s how the ‘professionals’ do it) to have a bit of a rant and share posts about the things she was loving. Since then, it has flourished into a hub of Teesside-flag-waving, proper food porn and honesty surrounding big topics, like mental health and job hunting.
The aim of The Northernist is to champion the North East, with a particular focus on Teesside, to challenge the negative views of the region. With posts on Teesside food, events and lifestyle, it’s a haven for both Teessiders and tourists to find somewhere new to try or to book in their next day out.
If this sounds like something that your brand or business could align with, please take a look at the ‘work with me’ page.
About Olivia
Let’s drop the third person chat for this, shall we? I’m Olivia and I’m a mid-twenty-something from Teesside. I was born and raised in Stockton, spent the best part of my teens and twenties living in Middlesbrough, and now live out past Sedgefield. I’m passionate about the whole area and will defend it to the death, which is something that I emulate through The Northernist.
When I’m not tip-tapping away on here or grafting at my digital media day job, you can find me doing yoga, baking or reading. You might also find me pinning a load of recipes that I have zero intention of trying out, but the photos look so delicious, amirite? I’m also pretty big on mental health, so I dabble in hobbies that help me to unwind and de-stress, like cross stitching and paper cutting.
If you’d like to get to know me a bit more, please follow me on Twitter! Or you can send me over an email at olivia@thenorthernist.co.uk.
