About The Northernist

The Northernist is a Teesside-based blogger, sharing her wisdoms and woes as she navigates life as a Northern, millenial woman. From careers to contraception, and budget beauty buys to boys, no topic is out of bounds to help other women feel less alone.

Originally founded in 2013, The Northernist began as a place for Olivia (that's me - I know, third person is so weird, but it's how the 'professionals' do it) to have a bit of a rant and share posts about the things she was loving. Since then, it has flourished into a hub of honesty surrounding big topics, like mental health and job hunting, as well as not-so-big topics, like beauty.

The aim of The Northernist is to show other millennial women that they aren't alone in this big old world. This blog is to say 'yes, it's ok to feel a bit like you don't know which way your life is headed' by showing that we've all felt like that at some point. It's to say that there is no right or wrong way to do this whole life thing, just be grateful for the ride and we'll work out the bumps together.

The Northernist is also about championing the North East and challenging the negative views of Teesside. With posts on Teesside food, events and lifestyle, it's a haven for anyone looking to visit the area or gain a bit more knowledge.

If this sounds like something that your brand or business could align with, please take a look at the 'work with me' page.

About Olivia

Let's drop the third person chat for this, shall we? I'm Olivia and I'm a mid-twenty-something from Middlesbrough. I'm passionate about where I live and will defend it to the death, which is something that I emulate through The Northernist. I'm also very passionate about being female and voicing all of the things that come along with that, so tying those topics up together through my writing is a total joy.

When I'm not tip-tapping away on here or grafting at my digital content day job, you can find me doing yoga, baking or reading. You might also find me pinning a load of recipes that I have zero intention of trying out, but the photos look so delicious, amirite? I'm also pretty big on mental health, so I dabble in hobbies that help me to unwind and de-stress, like cross stitching and paper cutting.

If you'd like to get to know me a bit more, please follow me on Twitter! Or you can send me over an email at thenorthernist@hotmail.com
