Hi, my name's Olivia
I'm a twenty-something from the North East of England - Middlesbrough, to be precise! In the past, I've had a bit of a love-hate relationship with blogging. I actually authored two other blogs before this one, but just struggled to get my personality into my content. So when I set this blog up in January 2016, I told myself that I was going to do the things I wanted in the way that I wanted to do them - so far, it's working out pretty well!

About The Northernist
On this blog, you will mainly find posts in the food and lifestyle category. I am obsessed with baking, so if it's cakes and biscuits you're looking for, you've come to the right place as that's mainly what I post about. I also do the odd book review, beauty post and other bits and bobs that are on my mind at the time.
While it's not everyone's cup of tea, I really pride myself on not following the trends. I tried to do this with my previous blogs and it didn't make me happy. Now that I'm producing content that I'm fully satisfied with, I feel way more motivated to post!
I'm hoping that The Northernist continues to grow in the future. It's something that I've worked hard on, and had to juggle around other commitments, so it'd be amazing to see it flourish.

About Olivia
I started University on a TV and Film Production course, which I ended up deciding wasn't for me after the first year. I switched to English Studies with Creative Writing, following my passion for reading and writing, and graduated in July 2016 with a high 2:1 (seriously, if I got like 2 more marks, it would've been a First - GUTTED). I also completed a Masters in Multimedia Journalism (with a Distinction) in 2018, so I'm now pursuing social media/online journalism as a career.
I am a foodie. I love being in the kitchen, baking and cooking away, or going out to restaurants and sampling the foods that everyone's been talking about. As well as food, I love crafting. Whilst working full-time, volunteering and trying to maintain a blog doesn't give me a lot of time to myself, I try to fill any gaps I can with drawing, watercolouring or stitching. They're all great for de-stressing and getting the creative juices flowing.
