My Huge Sephora Birthday Haul

I've only ever been to Sephora once in my life and that was in Chicago. In fact, it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I realised Sephora was a worldwide thing and not just an American shop. So when I found out that there were a couple in Krakow, I just knew that it was somewhere that I wanted to go on my birthday so that I could treat myself a little bit. I'm a huge makeup junkie, but I usually stick to drugstore brands, so I was really excited to pick up some higher end bits.

There were a few things that I knew I wanted before we actually went into the shop and one of those were some face masks. I've used one of the sheet masks before and loved it, and everyone raves about them, so I was after a couple to stash in the bathroom cabinet. I chose the aloe vera mask, which is for ultra moisturising (this one is mainly for J as he gets quite dry) and the grape mask for anti-pollution. I also wanted to get some foot masks because J and I are rubbish at taking care of our feet, but I only realised after we'd got back to our apartment that we'd accidentally bought hand masks instead! Keeping care of your hand skin is just as important though, and it was the aloe vera hand masks we picked up, so our hands will be super moisturised. Whilst browsing the Sephora Collection section, I couldn't help but be pulled towards the face wipes. I never remove my makeup with wipes, but I like to use them after I cleanse or just to refresh my bare skin. I decided to pick up the charcoal cleansing and exfoliating wipes, as charcoal is supposed to be amazing for the skin and these wipes have a side that is covered in tiny bumps to buff away any dry skin. I've used these a few times since starting this post and I'm loving them!
Something else that I knew I wanted to get was the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray, but unfortunately, they were all out, so I picked up the Urban Decay De-slick instead. This setting spray is designed to keep oils to a minimum and tackle shine, and that is something that I have in abundance. Because of that, I'm hoping that this setting spray is a bit of a miracle-worker for me! I've actually never used a setting spray before, so there may be a review of this product further down the line. The last thing that I knew I was after was a primer. My beloved No7 Airbrush Away ran out about a week before we went on holiday, so I wanted to try something new. I swatched Urban Decay's Optical Illusion primer on the back of J's hand (mine was covered in eyeshadow swatches) and it looked and felt amazing! Designed to fill pores, reduce fine lines and blur any imperfections, I'm hoping that this primer works for my skin type and can help with shrinking the appearance of my nose pores.
Do you ever find yourself just wandering down the aisles of a shop and something just glints and catches your eye? That is exactly what happened to me with the Sephora Collection Face Shimmering Powder in natural glow and when I walked over to it, I was practically blinded by its beauty. Just look at it! I love the snake skin-like print and its soft gold look. It would work perfectly as a highlighter or for dusting all over the face for a bit of added radiance.
I hadn't spotted the Kat Von D section of the shop on our first lap and it was only after I had the "I think I'm done" look around that I saw it. I whizzed over to it as quickly as I could to see if they had the cult favourite Shade & Light palette. To my excitement, they had the contour palette and both of the eye palettes! I crouched on the floor beside them for the longest time, umm-ing and ahh-ing over which one I wanted to get, but I settled on the Shade & Light contour palette in the end. This was actually something that J used his money to pay for, as a sort of pick-your-own birthday present, so I'm very grateful! I've been wanting to try this out for such a long time, but have never seen any in person to have a good look at. Unfortunately, this isn't the refillable palette, but I'm certain that I'll get use out of each shade.
I was drawn to this product in a similar way to how I was drawn into the Sephora Collection highlighter. I was just browsing the shop, minding my own business, when I saw the most adorable food-shaped products. You guys know me, I love food, so I had to stop and take a look. Turns out, this was a stand for the Korean brand, Tony Moly, and there was a banana-shaped hand cream and little fruits filled with lip balm, amongst many other goodies. I picked up an apple one because I blooming love apple flavoured and scented things, plus look at how cute this little guy is. There was also a peach one, but they had sold out. Boo!
And last, but certainly not least, here are the two things that I purchased from the Too Faced stand. I absolutely love this brand and I always struggle to fault their products, so if I ever see somewhere selling their products, I'll always look (despite not spending anything because I'm a poor student). I was browsing their palettes and I was torn between the Chocolate Bar or one from the peach range. In all honesty, the only thing that was drawing me to the Chocolate Bar was the scent and the cute packaging, but I have so many browns in my makeup collection that I felt it was time for a more spring-themed introduction. So I ended up with the Just Peachy Mattes palette, which smells like a dream,is full of gorgeous shades and only has matte shadows, which is a total win with me. I can't wait to use it! I also picked up the Better Than Sex mascara, which is something that I ran out of yonks ago and have been pining after a replacement ever since. I can't fault the formula at all and I'm yet to meet a mascara that gives me the same lengthening and thickening results.

Phew, if you made it to the end of this humongous post, then well done you! As you can see, I went a bit crazy with our holiday money, but it was my birthday, so why not?! Have you tried any of these products? Which of them do you love?

  1. This is making me want to take a trip to another country just for Sephora. I have heard so many great things just on the Sephora own brand face masks and makeup! Definitely worth going crazy for.
