Darlington By The Sea (FREE) – Head to Darlington for nine days of sun (hopefully), sea and sand for this ever-popular annual family event. Darlington by the Sea’s beach-themed event runs from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th July. Tees Barrage Duck Race (FREE) – Get ready for a quacking good day out as the Stockton-on-Tees Round Table Duck Race splashes back for its third year on Saturday 22nd August 2026, once again taking place at the iconic Tees Barrage White Water Course. But with a villainous band manager lurking, nothing goes to plan. Will the band perform? Will Danny rock out? Or will Dino’s rumbling tummy save the day?
Summer LEGO Club at Billingham Library (FREE) – Love building with LEGO bricks? Come and show us what you can build in this fun drop in session. Suitable for ages 4+ years. Free, drop in activity.
Code Club @ Fab Lab Hartlepool Community Hub Central (FREE) – A fun and exciting opportunity for 9 to 13-year-olds to learn computer programming through designing games, animations and more. Learners will use programmes such as Unity, Scratch, Micro:bit and Raspberry Pi to code with their friends, all for free! Free, but booking required.
Summer Art Club at House of Foliage – For the school holidays, the lovely David Palmer of Palmer Illustrations will be holding an art club every Wednesday throughout August here at House of Foliage, the plant shop by the sea. This time the classes will be dictated by the children, we want their imagination to soar, David will be on hand to encourage and offer his expertise. From 2-4pm.

Bushcraft Thursdays at Ormesby Hall – Get outdoors and discover essential woodland skills this summer with Kidz Konnekt. Drop into our woodland area and explore the natural world through hands-on bushcraft experiences. You can try exciting bushcraft activities including fire striking, rope and knot tying, seed bomb making, den building and survival shelters. Perfect for families and young adventurers. So come along and learn a new skill this summer. No booking required. Normal admission applies to join in with the activity.
Multi-Sports Explorers at Hopetown Darlington (FREE) – Across the summer holidays, Football Fun, Cricket Champions and Multi-Sports Explorers sessions offer something for everyone, helping children stay active, develop new skills and enjoy time outdoors. More than just play, these sessions connect sport with local heritage, showing how Darlington helped shape the games we know today while supporting healthy, active lifestyles.
Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter Crafts at Kirkleatham Museum – Get crafty this week with Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter themed crafts – plus, there a fantastic opportunity to explore the museum and grounds. 10am – 3pm.
MIMA Family Art Trolley (FREE) – Join us with family and friends to make your own masterpiece using a range of materials and making techniques. Stay for lunch and pick up a picnic from the MIMA Kitchen for £1 per child when visiting the Family Art Trolley.

Imagine Me: The Gruffalo at Cockerton Library – Invited for lunch with a very friendly mouse, we soon find out the larder is bare and we are going to have to venture into the Deep Dark Wood to find the best nut tree! Running from the foxes, hiding from the owl and helping out the very sad snake… will things go to plan when we finally reach the tree? £5, booking required.

Fantasy Fridays at Ormesby Hall – We invite children to let their imaginations run wild this summer. Come along with family and friends and start your adventure by crafting your very own colourful paper windmill to take home. Then, settle down in our cosy storytelling tent, where one of our friendly volunteers will bring enchanting tales to life. Drop-in workshops from 11am-2pm. No booking needed. Fossil Hunting on Skinningrove Beach with Land Of Iron – Walk down on to a beach that was once home to millions of prehistoric creatures, far beneath a tropical sea. Comb the beach with our staff and volunteers to find fossils, or even a nodule of ironstone if you’re lucky.

Daisy Chain Fest (FREE) – Head to our farm for a fun-packed day filled with live music, stunning summer stalls, amazing inflatables and children’s games, fun on the farmyard with pigs, alpacas, horses and lots, lots more… all in support of the autistic and neurodivergent community.
Great North Air Ambulance’s Helifest – Helifest is back for another spectacular summer’s day of music, entertainment, food and fun for the whole family. As well as entertainment for all ages, we’ll also have a range local artisan stalls for you to browse, and some delicious food and refreshments for you to enjoy.
Rapid Racer Inflatable Session at Billingham Forum – Climb, jump and slide as you race against your friends to conquer the Rapid Racer inflatables!
