This is THE coolest new food venue in Saltburn! 🍔 This is THE coolest new food venue in Saltburn! 🍔

@miltonstreetmarket has landed in the old Milton Street Methodist Church and it’s truly fabulous. It’s got big city vibes, a relaxed feel and incredible street food to boot, so it’s one to check out on a weekend by the sea.

This spot is home to four kitchens - @casadelalmadarlington, @thegyrosplace, @smashd_saltburn and @basechickenco - and the best bit is that you can order from them all individually or all together via the QR code on the table! There’s a bar too, so it’s a great place for a bit of a different evening.

We’d been itching to visit since they opened last month and we were so impressed! The venue itself is obviously amazing with parts of the original church kept in place, like the organ pipes and pews. And there’s a lush community feel with long tables, as well as individual tables and booths for something a bit more cosy.

Ordering through the QR code was super easy and we were happy to see you could order from the bar on there too! Each of the kitchens offer something a bit different, from smash burgers to burritos, and we were properly spoiled for choice.

But in the end, we shared a Smokehouse burger and cheesy chorizo potatoes from @smashd_saltburn, and some tenders from @basechickenco. Because we ordered from two different places, the food came as and when it was done, which was fine by us, so the burger and potatoes came together first. And both were UNREAL. I could eat those cheesy potatoes forever 😍

But it was the chicken tenders that really stole my heart. They were juicy with a crispy crust, and they paired up perfectly with the garlic dip. Even though I was full, four just wasn’t enough and I could’ve easily eaten about 12. They were incredible 🤤

This is such a unique spot for the Teesside area and it’s one to check out if you fancy somewhere new for lunch or dinner over the weekend!

Billingham and Norton, our takeaway game just got Billingham and Norton, our takeaway game just got ELEVATED 🌮 [ad - gifted]

@mexi.shan have just landed in the area, offering delivery and collection on their mucky Mexican food, and it absolutely needs to be the next place you order from. I’m talking tacos, burritos and nachos with classic flavours and Teesside twists.

And not only is this sensational scran available to order from Fri to Sun, it’s in the same kitchen as @properdings and I’ll be the first to enable you to order both a burrito and a burger 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’d been crying out for a Mexican takeaway nearby, so I was buzzing to see Mexi-shan was on the way. I was even more buzzing when this box of heaven showed up at my door, weighing an absolute ton and smelling of birria.

The parmo tacos were a major standout. Fried chicken tenders, bechamel, cheddar, mozzarella and garlic sauce, and absolutely as unreal as they sound. And they were only made more unreal by dipping in the garlic mayo. PHWOAR 🐓

We had the Al Pastor and Hot Honey Tenders & Mac Cheese burritos, which were both out of this world, but the tenders and mac was the one. It was fully loaded, but not messy, so you could easily pick it up. The chicken had a sweet kick and the thing was soooo cheesy. It was mega filling though, so make sure you save room!

And of course, I’m never gonna say no to fully loaded nachos and these were topped with beef chilli and cheese. Properly naughty and properly good.

Check out @mexi.shan to order for collection or delivery this weekend!

It’s so hard to go to @fika.co_norton and not grab It’s so hard to go to @fika.co_norton and not grab a cinnamon bun 😍

And it’s even harder when you throw the monthly special cinnamon bun into the mix!

Choose from Oreo, Biscoff or pistachio from the classic menu, or check out their Instagram to find out the special of the month.

August’s is banoffee, a sweet and tasty mix of a thick, squidgy cinnamon bun, topped with a banana, fudge pieces, crumbled biscuit, toffee sauce, and lashings of cream cheese frosting. It’s absolutely sensational and a must-try for fans of banoffee, or those of us with a raging sweet tooth 🍌

Pancake brunch this weekend? Look no further than Pancake brunch this weekend? Look no further than @thetuliplounge 🥞

This is one of our fave local spots for brunch and lunch, thanks to their huge menu of varied options, cool interiors and fantastic food!

For me, it’s always the pancakes because they’re gorgeously thick and chunky, and there’s lots of topping options to pick from. My usual choice is the banoffee, but I broadened my horizons on this visit with the Eton Mess. I’m talking strawberries, blueberries, crumbled meringue and lashings of strawberry coulis. It was stunning! 🍓

M went for the Turkish breakfast wrap - sucuk sausage, scrambled eggs, hash brown, sun dried tomato and cheese (and he added a side of hash browns too). This made for a lush breakfast alternative and the sucuk was a great addition.

This place is popular for a reason, so if you haven’t been, take this as your sign!

Dreamy pizza and small plates at @basepizzeriamars Dreamy pizza and small plates at @basepizzeriamarske 🍕 [ad - previously gifted]

Base is an absolute gem of a spot in Marske, serving up thick crust, thin base pizzas in a gorgeously contemporary restaurant. Think laidback vibes and a fun edge with the fantastic cocktail menu!

Their menu is absolutely HUGE with all kinds of pizzas to choose from, like the classic margherita to our choice, the hot honey brisket - braised beef brisket, hot honey glaze and red onion. It was every bit as delicious as it sounds 😍 This is one of their most popular things on the menu and it’s clear to see why!

And not only do they do pizza, but there’s also an amazing selection of small plates. You could either have these as sides or as the whole meal if you fancied!

This is a must visit spot for pizza lovers, so get it on your lists!

Well, @fugly_bakes_ are anything BUT fugly 😍 [ad - Well, @fugly_bakes_ are anything BUT fugly 😍 [ad - gifted]

This baker is creating a storm in the kitchen with fantastically delicious tray bakes with boxes to order and a cake shed on the way (Yarm’s first!). I can’t recommend you check her out enough!!

We snagged a mystery box and I can tell you that everything was SENSATIONAL. We had:
- Triple chocolate brownie
- Funfetti blondie
- Lemon drizzle cake
- Biscoff blondie
- Salted caramel brownie

These were amazing treats for me and M to share and celebrate the newborn bubble a little (although they were almost too good to share!).

My top favourite was the funfetti blondie - think super squidgy and fudgy, but more than able to hold its shape. It was so cute with all the colourful sprinkles and the flavour was sweet and moreish. I loved it! The triple choc brownie was a verrrry close second, thanks to its rich fudginess 😍

If you haven’t followed @fugly_bakes_, then get on it! You can follow all of the cake shed updates and keep an eye out for box drops like this one.

The people are what make the Tees Valley 💛 We’re The people are what make the Tees Valley 💛

We’re often the first people to rag on ourselves, thanks to countless years of stereotyping and bad press, but we’re actually pretty sound.

We’re a people forged in fire, steel and steam, and it shows in our resilience. We’re a bunch where someone always knows someone who knows someone - “oh yeah, our Gemma? She went to school with him.” We’re a mish mash of cultures and diversity, and we make the best of what we’ve got, with the knowledge that there’s even better things on the horizon. We’ll chat to pretty much anyone and we absolutely WILL use local slang - “yerjokinarnya?!”

Tees Valley folks, you’re the salt of the Earth 💛
