Have Takeaway Your Way In Teesside With Foodpenny #AD

28 Jan 2021

There are lots of things that Teesside is known for and one is for the humble parmo, our national dish and number one choice of takeaway foods. But it's also known for its up-and-coming tech sector, particularly in Middlesbrough, with new tech start ups appearing on the radar almost every other day. However, one that fuses both of these fantastic Teesside aspects together is FoodPenny, the brand new, revolutionary app that helps you find exactly what you want from local takeaways.

We've all been there - we log in to our favourite takeaway ordering app, knowing exactly what we want to order, but we've got to scroll through countless takeaways to find one that does it precisely the way you imagined. It might be that you want a stuffed crust pepperoni pizza, but you want the option of adding extra cheese and a side of chips. Or maybe you want the beautiful wonder that is the parmo with jalapenos, garlic sauce and chips swapped for sweet potato fries? FoodPenny have got you covered.

What is FoodPenny?

To put it simply, FoodPenny is your new best friend when it comes to ordering takeaways. With this app, made in Teesside and launched exclusively in Teesside, you will be able to compare all of the takeaways around you to find out which one offers the meal you want at the best price. It's basically the Compare The Meerkat of takeaway apps! It's a super simple concept, but it's a gap in the market that definitely needs filling and who better to do it than a team from the Tees?

Who are the team behind FoodPenny?

The development team behind the takeaway app includes founders Urfan Durrani, Hamza Zaim and senior team member Raza Durrani, who bring together a wealth of experience from both the food takeaway market and the technology arena. Overall, the team have been working, researching and designing the FoodPenny app for two years, having received support from investors and trusted partners.

Mr Durrani said: “We felt there was an opportunity to challenge the traditional food delivery market, placing the consumer and their personal preferences first. We are very proud to now offer this unrivalled platform in terms of approach, options, and indeed the pricing structure – a world first!”

How does FoodPenny work?

Instead of entering your postcode and being inundated with hundreds of takeaways around you, FoodPenny is super sophisticated in that it searches local takeaways and suggests those that offer exactly what you want.

First of all, you enter your postcode, then you're taken to a screen where you can select the cuisine that you fancy that night. As you go through the process, you can narrow your meal down further and further until you've built up the perfect picture of what you want to eat. You can also add in any dietary requirements, which is really handy if you're searching for something specific, like plant-based, nut-free or gluten-free.

Once you've completed your dream order, a list of takeaways that can make your wishes come true, right down to every requirement. You're able to sort by price, rating and delivery times, and can see all the essential info, like hygiene ratings and savings. It's absolutely fantastic if you're picky and have a clear idea of the takeaway meal you want to see delivered to your door.

What else can you expect from FoodPenny?

Not only can you expect to find the perfect takeaway in minutes with FoodPenny, but they're adding new takeaways and gaining more interest every single day. As far as I see it, it's full Teesside domination, and next stop... the world! You'll also get a notification when your order has been accepted, live tracking and so much variety.

And if that wasn't enough, you should be feeling lucky at the start of the weekend. On Fridays, random orders will receive a whole £10 off their meal, which by my calculations, is at least a parmo meal's worth of food for free! That Friday night takeaway will have never tasted so good, so you should definitely take your chance and pop in a little order.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to the your relevant app store and pick up FoodPenny for free! If you're a restaurant or takeaway owner and you'd like to get your place on the app, make sure you check out their Partner Programme to find out more information. I know that this is going to be a super popular app, so get yourselves in there!
