Happy International Women's Day, everyone! While we should celebrate everybody's wins all year round, there's no time like International Women's Day to really hone in on the wealth of female talent that we have in Teesside. I'm lucky that I'm in a position where I get to watch our local businesses start from the ground up, and flourish into something amazing, and many of those businesses are led by incredible women. So for today's post, I thought that I'd do a little round up of 8 female-led Teesside businesses that you need to watch in 2021.

1. The Little Gin Palace

If you love gin, The Little Gin Palace is the one that you want to watch. Bridget started her events business just as lockdown hit, but was able to adapt and take a fresh approach to the business by providing bottles, cocktail kits and accessories, with the promise of bringing the events back post-lockdown. She has also just released her very own Lady Fortune's Mediterranean Gin, which I'm predicting now is going to be stocked in bars across Teesside. The only way is up for this business in 2021 and is one to keep on your radars.

2. Melissa Jane Floral

For a local florist with flare, look no further than Melissa Jane Floral. Melissa started up this business towards the end of 2019, but has totally killed the world of floristry since then. Not only has she provided bespoke, beautiful bouquets, wreaths and centrepieces for a range of occasions throughout lockdown, she's also teamed up with other businesses, such as fellow female-led biz, Hungry & Humble, and Bedford Street Social, to create gorgeous events and floral fixtures. 2021 is going to be a great year for Melissa Jane Floral, so go to her for all your flower needs.

3. Stellar Projects

With Stellar Projects, we're always in for a real treat because it's let by not one, but two incredible women. Lyndsey and Rachel are two Teessiders with a passion for the arts and producing immersive events, projects and experiences for the whole family. They've worked on some big local names, like Festival of Thrift, Make & Mend, and Nightfall, so they are the brains behind some of the region's favourite events. After seeing the way that they transformed Nightfall into a virtual event during lockdown, I just know that 2021 is going to be amazing for these ladies. Once we can get back to physical events, they're going to completely pull it out of the bag.

4. LaLa Bakes

I feel like I mention LaLa Bakes all the time on my blog and social, but seriously, this girl is going places. This was another business created during lockdown, but it's another one that has completely flourished into something amazing. LaLa is the youngest baker I know, but the things she creates are phenomenal. From towering celebration cakes to the most detailed and beautifully iced biscuits, she bakes up a storm for all occasions, all year round. She's only just starting out on her business journey and I think she's got what it takes to go all the way! The rest of 2021 is going to be so positive for LaLa Bakes and I can't wait to see what she's got in store for us all.

5. Wander Films

If you're a Teessider and haven't heard of Wander Films yet, then where have you been? This video marketing and production company is led by Chloe Clover and Lou Tonner, two video-savvy women who are helping businesses across the UK to Beat The Scroll. While their services have gone national, they've also worked with tons of locals, such as Tomahawk Steakhouse, Teesside Uni and Zap! Creatives to create engaging video content. The company is on a massive roll, winning a string of awards and continuing to push the boundaries. From their personality to their branding to their incredible social content, Wander Films is a business that was born to thrive and is definitely one to watch in 2021.

6. Hungry & Humble

Hungry & Humble are another biz that I mention all the time, but she's just so freaking good. Sonia is an absolute wonder woman, starting up Hungry & Humble, working a full time job and being a mum, yet she still pulls it out of the bag every time. She makes the most gorgeous grazing platters I've ever seen and better still, she does themed ones throughout the year. She made an incredible Halloween platter, complete with Brie coffins. She's done a Brie wreath for Christmas, topped with salami roses and sprigs of rosemary. She basically slays the platter game is constantly going from strength to strength. 2021 is going to be her year.

7. Real Green Frog

What do you get when you take one creative sister and put her with a business-savvy sister? You get Real Green Frog, a business that is all about t-shirts for your little ones, plus matching adult t-shirts for twinning. They also provide baby boxes, gifts, peg dolls and so many other treats for kids. Jos and Beth create some of the cutest slogan tees I've ever seen and I think that 2021 is going to present so many opportunities for them. While they already have a loyal fan base, I think this year will see them grow massively, especially as they release new designs.

8. Fudge It

I can't even express to you in words how much I love Fudge It and I've managed to get my family on the hype train as well. The lovely Laura makes the most amazing fudge that I have ever had - I'm talking super smooth, melt in the mouth fudge in gorgeous flavours (seriously, try the cookie dough) - but she's also just the most wonderful and down-to-earth woman. But what is the most exciting thing is that Fudge It are moving from her home kitchen to Fudge It HQ in a unit, so she's going to be stepping things up a notch in 2021 and I can't wait to see what she's got up her sleeves.

There are many amazing female-led businesses out there in Teesside and it was so hard to narrow down this list. Every single business in our area is absolutely smashing it at the moment and all I see on social media is complete positivity and targets being hit. It's just phenomenal and I love to see everyone going from strength to strength! 2021 is going to be a big year for our local businesses when everything opens back up, so make sure you check out the ones I've listed to be a part of the action.

Who do you think is one to watch in 2021?
