Everything You Need To Know About Stockton Calling 2023

After the return of Stockton Calling in 2022 following a pause during the pandemic, I feel like the whole of Teesside has been chomping at the bit for Stockton Calling 2023. And it’s finally here, rip-roaring its way into the town and taking over local music venues for a day of local, regional and national music.

We’re so lucky in Teesside to have such a rich music scene. From incredible bands and artists, to top venues that host performers of all sizes, and from amazing promoters, to legions of local music fans, we have it all. The area is also home to a whole host of festivals and music events (with new ones popping up all of the time), and one of the biggest isĀ Stockton Calling!

What is Stockton Calling 2023?

Stockton Calling is a daylong music festival which takes place across an array of venues within Stockton town centre. It’s all about showcasing some of the best original, emerging music – both from the Teesside area and from further afield – alongside some established favourites and legends. And for 2022, you can expect a line up of over 70 acts across 10 stages, so there truly is something for everyone. The team have worked incredibly hard to make this festival as diverse and exciting as possible for the thousands of music lovers that’ll be attending.

When is Stockton Calling 2023?

Stockton Calling 2023 will be hitting the town’s venues on Saturday 8th April, so it’s a great way to spice up your Easter weekend. The event will be held across the whole day, but it’s the perfect excuse to make a weekend of it and explore the rest of Teesside.

Where can I buy tickets?

Sound good so far? Want to get your hands on some tickets? They’re available to book now through the Stockton Calling site. You haven’t got long left, so make sure you grab yours while they’re still around!

Who is on the festival line up?

The Stockton Calling 2023 headliners include indie favourites, Circa Waves, South Yorkshire rockers, The Sherlocks, and Britpop legends, Sleeper. These are alongside a wealth of local music talents, like Finn Forster, Michael Gallagher, We Tibetans, Benefits, Moon Wax and Whitenoise to name just a few! And if that wasn’t enough, you can also check out some brilliant emerging artists from across the rest of the region and the UK too, such as my faves bigfatbig, Opus Kink, Apollo Junction, The Pale White, Frankie Jobling and oodles more.

As there’s so many amazing artists spread out across a range of venues, my biggest tip is to check out the Stockton Calling clash finder for timings. That way, you can plan out your day and avoid missing any of your favourites. And if you want to sample some tracks from the line up, there’s a handy dandy Spotify playlist for you to listen to.

Where can I eat and drink?

Not only are there a plethora of music and arts venues across the town, but there’s plenty of spots to eat and drink too. I’ve put together a little Google map that you can see below (which also includes the music venues), so feel free to browse and get booked in. But for me, there are a few stand out spots.

The Storytellers is a fab spot for both food and drink, and it would be worth checking with them if they’re serving while the festival is on. I may be a bit biased, but The Golden Smog is a lush little pub and they’ll give you a free pint if you’re wearing one of my Smoggie pins. The Tap and Stone do gorgeous New York-style pizzas and cocktails, whereas Hope & Union offer a bite to eat right in the thick of the action! You also have to try a burger from Sticky’s – they’re sensational!

I think we can agree that this is going to be an absolutely mega day for Stockton! Make sure you don’t miss out – go grab your tickets while they’re still available. Or if you need any more information, make sure you check out the Stockton Calling 2023 website and Facebook page.

So hands up, who’s excited about this legend of a local festival? Who are you most excited to see?
