About The Parkmore Hotel

Originally a Victorian shipping merchant’s house, The Parkmore Hotel has been modernised over the years to become a top choice for staycationers. There are 55 en-suite bedrooms (including one suite, five junior suites and six four-poster bedrooms); a sumptuous lounge and surrounding bar areas; a top class restaurant and a plethora of leisure facilities to enjoy. It provides the perfect home from home!

Where is The Parkmore Hotel?

You’ll find the hotel at 636 Yarm Road, Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees, TS16 0DH. There’s plenty of free parking at the back of the hotel – just pull on to the drive and swing round the side of the building.

What sort of rooms do they offer?

The Parkmore Hotel has a variety rooms to suit a range of needs and budgets. If you’re travelling solo, you might like the standard single or standard double rooms. If you’re travelling as a family, you could book one of the family rooms, designed to sleep three or four people. There’s also a suite and several junior suites for those who want more space or want to make a real trip of it.

Are there any other facilities?

The hotel is the perfect place to stay because it has so many amazing facilities on-site. Of course, there’s the free parking for all guests, but all guests with a room also have access to the gym, spa and pool.

The Hideaway Spa features a pool, jacuzzi, hydrotherapy pool, steam room and sauna. It’s open until 10pm and children are able to swim until 6pm, so I recommend going in the evening if you want some quiet relaxation time. To access the leisure facilities, you simply follow the signs from the hotel reception until you reach the spa reception. There, you’ll be able to sign in and grab a towel, before heading to the changing rooms. This is a lovely addition for the hotel and something you should definitely use for your stay!

If you’re travelling for work or looking for somewhere to host a business meeting, The Parkmore Hotel has excellent conference facilities. There are two function rooms available, which can hold between 2 – 100 delegates and the hotel can offer preferential room rates to attendees.

There is also The Birdcage, the gorgeous on-site restaurant.

The Birdcage restaurant can be easily accessed opposite the hotel reception. It’s a lovely, open space with a vibrant theme, featuring a pink neon light, plush seating and a tree! And along with the gorgeous interiors come a fantastic seasonal menu that head chef, Gemma, puts together with varying inspirations.

Whether you fancy a breakfast worthy of a champion, a truly Instagrammable brunch or an afternoon tea, the restaurant is a great pick, no matter if you’re a hotel guest or not. I’ve also heard that their Sunday roasts are fantastic.

Things to do near The Parkmore Hotel

Because this hotel is located in Eaglescliffe, close to Yarm, there’s a whole host of things to do right on the doorstep:

The rooms at The Parkmore Hotel are spacious and modern

What was our stay like?

We stayed at The Parkmore Hotel on a Friday evening and had an amazing time! We arrived shortly after check in time and found it very easy to park behind the hotel. There were plenty of spaces and we found one that turned out to be easy to see from our room, which was a bonus.

Check in was really simple and the lovely lady on reception was very friendly. She had an answer for all of our questions and was so helpful! We had a junior suite for the night, so headed upstairs to drop our bags in. There are also rooms on the ground floor, which I believe can be requested if needed for accessibility reasons.

The room

We were so chuffed about how spacious our room was. The bathroom (with bath and shower) was immediately on the right as we entered and there was a wider space ahead with a desk, two chairs and a low table with the tea and coffee facilities. Then beyond this room and down a couple of stairs was the bedroom with a large double bed and wardrobe. The room had everything we needed, and was super comfortable and modern.

The spa

Once we’d stashed our bags, we got our swimming stuff together and headed down to the Hideaway Spa. It’s a great perk that hotel guests can use the leisure facilities! We followed the signs and found the spa easily. The man on the reception as great and helped us with signing in, and fetched us towels. The changing rooms were roomy and clean, with cubicles and open changing areas.

The spa itself was small, but perfectly formed. The pool was great for doing laps, there was a jacuzzi for chilling in and a separate hydrotherapy pool for relaxation among bubbles. There were also two rooms close to the changing rooms that housed the sauna and steam room, and these were very popular! It was really lovely to be able to spend a couple of hours in here. I mainly swam, hung out in the hydrotherapy pool and sat on the side with my book, and it was perfect after a busy work week.

The restaurant

We had dinner in The Birdcage booked for 8pm, so once we’d had our fill of the Hideaway Spa, we headed back to our suite to get ready for the evening. It was fab to be able to just head back downstairs for a slap up meal! We were lucky enough to be given a preview of the upcoming April seasonal menu, which features world street food-inspired food.

We started with duck bao buns and the mozzarella meatballs. My bao buns were sensational – so fluffy and light with the juiciest and tastiest duck meat. Matthew’s meatballs were incredible too with pockets of gooey mozzarella hidden inside that melted out when cut into. So delicious!

For our mains, I chose to brave the Boss Burger, which was absolutely gigantic. It featured a smash burger, crunchy chicken, BBQ brisket, cheese sauce, truffle parmesan fries and panko onion rings. Yes, it was as mouthwateringly good as it sounds! We definitely could have shared this because it was so big, but every bite tasted heavenly. Matthew went for the beef enchiladas with rice, beans, salad and guacamole, and again, it was unbelievable. The flavour was lightly spiced and the portion was perfect.

I don’t know how we had any room after all of this food, but we had to give the puddings a go. I chose the banana bread, which is honestly one of the best things I’ve eaten in 2025. It had banana, toasted walnuts, butterscotch sauce and salted caramel ice cream, and it was totally heavenly. The cake was spongey, the sauce was sweet and the nuts added a lovely crunch. Matthew went for the classic triple chocolate cookie dough, which came piping hot with chocolate sauce and pistachio ice cream – a match made in heaven!

Bed time

I was so glad we didn’t have far to walk to get to our room because I was SO full. Needless to say, I slept like a baby that night. We got tucked up and caught up on The Apprentice (who is watching this year? Please talk to me about it!), then I read some of my book before falling fast asleep. The bed was so cosy and the room was really dark, so sleeping was a dream.

Breakfast

Breakfast at The Parkmore Hotel is back in the Birdcage restaurant, so we got ourselves ready for the day and headed down. We were greeted by a little cold buffet with cereals, juice, yogurts and fruit, and a menu was laid out on the table for hot food. I always like to start a hotel breakfast with apple juice and a bowl of granola and yogurt, so loved that I had all of these options available.

Breakfast at The Parkmore Hotel has lots of hot food choices, like the Eggs Benedict

I can’t ignore salmon on a breakfast menu, so I chose the Eggs Benedict. This was a fabulous choice – the salmon had a lush fresh flavour and the hollandaise added a touch of zest. Matthew chose the Birdcage Breakfast, which is the hotel’s take on a Full English. Complete with bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, a hash brown, black pudding, mushrooms, tomato and beans, he was full up for the day.

We couldn’t have asked for more from this little overnight staycation. We loved every minute, from start to finish, and I’d recommend it for anyone looking to stay in the area.
