Well everyone, we made it! I can’t quite believe that in a matter of days, 2021 will be coming to a close. And what a wild year it’s been, hey? I don’t know about you, but I had pretty high hopes after the car fire that was 2020, but 2021 has been… similar? But I’m sure we all made the most of it and we can start looking forward to 2022 (which is a weird number to say).

As per the end of every month, it’s time for a gratitude list, where I look over the past month and talk about what I was grateful for. Now I can’t lie, the overarching feeling for December was exhaustion. I wasn’t too motivated to do a lot and I think that came with the whole new variant thing, but there are still plenty of good bits to talk about.
Christmas – this was always going to be top of my list for December because I just freaking love Christmas. This year was a bit different in our family, but we still cracked on and made the whole thing work. In fact, I think we were more organised this year! It’s always nice to get everyone together, have our big dinner, and enjoy that lovely lull during the evening. And plus, we all managed to avoid getting covid, so we could spend it in the same house!
The parmo pin – I realise I haven’t formally announced anything on here yet, but in December, Pin Club and I launched our second collaboration pin, the parmo pin. This is a design that came out of my own head, and I still think it’s surreal to see it out and about in the wild. To think that people might have got one for Christmas is so crazy! I’m so proud of this one and I hope you all love it too.
New opportunities – December presented some new opportunities to both me and Matthew, so we’re both pretty excited about what’s to come. It means that we’ll be actively saving again, which is one of my goals for 2022, and we can start some future planning. The pair of us are keen to get out of Trimdon Station and move into a house with a bit more space, so stay tuned to hear more about that!
A spa day at Ramside Hall – it’s not often that I treat myself to a trip to the spa, but in December, my mum and I went along to Ramside for the day. I was very kindly invited along by ReVibe Marketing for an Elemis Escape, which involved a full body massage, a two course lunch in the Fusion restaurant, and use of all the spa facilities. It was truly what both of us needed and we came away wanting to book another! Shout out to Katie who worked wonders on my stiff back!
Nightfall – and of course, I couldn’t have a December gratitude list without mentioning Nightfall. This is honestly one of my favourite events in the Teesside winter calendar and the 2021 comeback was fantastic. I absolutely loved every minute and still can’t get over how much the event transformed Stewart Park. I’m so excited to see what Stellar Projects have up their sleeves for the 2022 edition.
And that wraps up my last gratitude list for 2021! What a time we’ve had this year, but let’s all look forward to 2022 and hope for much brighter days.
What were you grateful for in December?

What a fab month! I’ve been grateful for slowing down and having a chance to do nothing. It’s been lovely. Like you though, I’m raring to go for January.
