March 2022 Gratitude List – Birthday Fun & Glasgow

March was a bit of a January repeat for me. Not in that it was post-Christmas and I’d eaten my body weight in leftovers, but that time was moving so slowly. I can’t decide whether it was because I was excited for the end of the month or because I was still processing February, but it was glacial. And not in a bad way at all! There were loads and loads of lovely things to report on in March, so here’s what I was most grateful for.

My birthday – despite being absolutely petrified of turning 28, my birthday was blinkin’ lovely. To me, 28 truly feels like the slippery slope and the shadow of 30 is looming more and more. It doesn’t even bear thinking about! I didn’t make a lot of plans for my actual birthday day – just a booking for brunch at Flore in Newcastle and some last minute plans for a picky tea at my mum’s. We filled the rest of the time by taking a trip to For The Love Of The North in Whitley Bay and playing Pokemon Legends: Arceus. A pretty chilled and gorgeous day all round!

Our Glasgow trip – I’m a creature of habit when it comes to visiting Scotland. I’m always up for an Edinburgh trip, but never really go elsewhere. A few months ago, we ended up booking tickets for Sam Fender and the only place left with spaces was Glasgow. At first, we were a bit unsure because we rarely ever hear about it, but I’m SO glad we got tickets there because I’ve fallen in love. What a place! We didn’t make many plans, but just spent the whole weekend exploring as many corners of the city as we could. It was the best time and I’m already itching to go back.

Feeling settled in work – if you read my last gratitude list, you’ll know that I started a new job at the beginning of February. And I’m so glad to say that it’s honestly been a dream so far! I’m feeling really settled and I’m enjoying everything that I’m doing. It feels good to wake up in the morning and feel motivated to get on with work. And if you want to support me in this job just a teeny tiny bit, you can go follow the Enjoy Darlington TikTok!

The sunny weather – there’s just something about the sun, isn’t there? As I’m typing this, we’re coming out of a stint of snowy weather, which came immediately after a week of gorgeous sun. This little period of warmth was absolutely beautiful and it was so lovely to be able to get the shorts and shades back on for a bit. I also just love being in the living room with our French doors open. It was the perfect working environment and it’s got me so excited for summer.

Conversations about houses – I haven’t made it a secret on here that I’m itching to move house. In fact, I’m itching to buy a house. Partly because 30 is looming, like I mentioned before, and I want to get on the property ladder before that hits, but also because I want a space that we can make our own. I’ve had a bad habit of looking at houses on Rightmove for the past few months, but we’re feeling like we’re in a position to properly start looking now, which is so exciting. We definitely need to have a proper look at the process (because despite being old, I’m clueless) and think about what we want, but the wheels are creaking into motion and I’m buzzing.

So that’s what March looked like for me – pretty lovely, eh? April is already shaping up to be a good’un too, so stay tuned for my next gratitude list.
