April 2022 Gratitude List – Feeling Content & York

I don’t know if it’s just me, but April went by so quickly. But at the same time, when I was looking back through my phone to make my monthly Insta reel, I couldn’t believe how much stuff I’d done, despite the month flying by. It was definitely a busy month, but one of my favourites of the year so far. So as always at the end of the month, here’s everything that I was grateful for!

Our trip to York – Matthew bought me a trip to York at the start of April for my birthday. We always say when we’re in York, “we should come and stay for a weekend,” and never do, so it was a lovely gift! He’d paid for us to stay in the big suite at Hotel Du Vin (with two baths and the biggest bed I’ve ever seen!) and we spent two days just exploring the city. We went to the Castle Museum, did the York walls walk, went to The Chocolate Story, and just had a lovely mooch. It was a gorgeous trip and we both loved it.

Stockton Calling – if you’ve been keeping up with my blog, you’ll know that we were given tickets to Stockton Calling 2022. It was honestly such an incredible day and there was an unmistakeable atmosphere across the town for it. I feel like Stockton had been waiting so patiently for the festival to come back, so there was just a total outpouring of love and excitement. We’ve discovered lots of great new bands (Matthew can often be found humming bigfatbig tunes) and we bopped our socks off. It was a total triumph!

Getting to hang out with my family – when I was younger, my family used to get together every Sunday for a roast, so we’d see each other pretty regularly. But with my sister in York, my mum doing her own things, and all the things that come with trying to be a grown up for me, we don’t see each other all that regularly any more. But with my sister working in a school and getting two weeks off for half term, we all actually got to spend some time together! I even got to hang out with my goddaughters a little, which was so lovely. It was a month of warm fuzzy family time.

My mum’s birthday – and speaking of warm fuzzy family time, my mum had her birthday in April. Me and my sister weren’t taking her ‘meh’ approach to the whole thing, so took matters into our own hands. My sister surprised her by coming home a day early and we booked to go on an alpaca walk at Alpaca Alpaca! I didn’t even know there was such a place nearby, but it was fantastic. And then we rounded off the day with dinner at Cena in Yarm. It was such a lush time all round and it was fun to actually do something – if she’d had her way, my mum would’ve spent it at home. Not on our watch!

Feeling generally content – in general, my feeling throughout April has been contentedness. I’ve felt really happy in my job, excited to be thinking about moving house, I ate some really good food, did some fun activities with people I love, and just felt all round good in myself. It was such a nice month and I really enjoyed every day of it.

So that was how my April looked and it’s given me a good feeling about moving into May. Let’s see what this month holds!

What were you grateful for in April?
