Here we are, everyone. We’re past the halfway point of 2022! That feels so crazy to type out, but we’re now closer to 2023 than we are 2021. So wild! And also, let’s address the elephant in the room. I missed out my May 2022 gratitude list, mainly because May was an utter write off, but also because I had zero motivation as a result.
But I’m back to tell you all about June because WOW, what a month! There were plenty of lovely bits and pieces to talk about, so check out my list below.

A weekend break in Amsterdam – as you can tell by the post title and the image above, we had a trip to Amsterdam in June! Because me and Matthew got together right at the start of lockdown, and with work and grown up life, we’ve never had the chance to go abroad together. But when he went off to Amsterdam for work, I threw my toys out of the pram a bit. It’s one of my favourite cities and I felt short changed by being left out! So we booked a last minute trip and loved every second. I’m gonna do a post about touristy things I recommend from every trip I’ve been on, so look out for that!
Getting my Instagram account back – if you didn’t follow along with my social media saga, my Instagram account was hacked in May. The whole thing caused me so much unnecessary stress and I always said I’d be ok if my account went down, but when it actually happens, it’s a whole other kettle of fish. I was worried about the trust I’d built and the relationships I had with people, so it was a horrible six weeks. And then in June, I finally got back in! It didn’t feel real at first and my heart was pounding as I went through and changed all of the details back to my own. It was also sickening to see the thousands of DMs the hackers had sent to people to try and hack them. But I’m back to full functionality now and ready to work my butt off to regain everyone’s trust.
The genuine niceness of people – throughout the whole Insta hacking episode, I was really reminded of just how lovely people can be. At first, I was so clouded with thoughts of “Why would someone do this? Why are people so horrible?”, but I was truly shown how kind some people are. There was so much support when I announced my new account (which is pretty redundant now, but I massively appreciated the love), there were lots of people sending me solutions, and so many people who checked in regularly to see how I was. Honestly, it was so so nice and I’m incredibly grateful.
Our Platinum Jubilee celebrations – now listen, I’m absolutely not a royalist, nor do I care much for the royal family. However, our family loves any excuse for a get together. My mum’s street had a party and it was so gorgeous to sit out in the sun on our long tables with our picnic food and daft little crowns. But the real highlight was when we took our party into the back garden for a bit of family time. We had the marquee up, the music on the big speakers, good food on the barbecue and even a hot tub. It was fab and so much fun. And one of the best bits was seeing the kids enjoy themselves and really get in on the red, white and blue action – even if they said the thing they’ll remember the most from the once-in-a-lifetime event was splashing about in the hot tub!
Seeing The Killers (finally) – my mum bought us all tickets in 2019 to go see The Killers the following year. Obviously, with the pandemic and the like, it was postponed and postponed again. At the start of June, we FINALLY got to see them at the Riverside and it was everything I wanted. I love The Killers live and I think was my sixth time seeing them, so I knew what to expect. But it was even better going as a family and having a dance in the sun to some banging tunes. We all had the best time and it’s really got me in the mood for more live music.
So there’s a little glimpse of my jolly June – like I say, what a month! The world really felt like it was put to rights after a pretty miserable May and I’m excited to see what the rest of the ear holds.
What were you grateful for in June?
