Can you believe that we’re over the halfway point of 2022? This year is absolutely flying by, especially because we’re fully out of lockdowns and covid precautions. Life definitely moved slower when we couldn’t leave the house, didn’t it?
I like to make it a bit of a tradition that I do a wee check in with myself at the halfway point. It’s a good time to look back at the goals I set myself at the start of the year and see how I’m getting on. And it’s a fab opportunity for a little bit of reality on this blog – a little reminder that not everything is glossy and amazing! So without further ado, let’s have a look at how I’m progressing with my goals.

1. Get back on track with saving
I’ve been really good with getting back on track with saving and Matthew has joined me in this goal. And what’s really exciting is that we’re starting to talk about house hunting and the types of things we want in a property. What I will say, though, is I found my missing passport not so long ago, so the urge to book lots of holidays before it expires is strong. We’ll see what happens, but I’m really glad to say that we’re feeling financially stable again and our saving is going well.
2. Make more time for hobbies
I’ve really been indulging in hobbies in 2022, which has been a total joy. I’ve been getting back into reading and finding the genres that I truly love. I’ve started a new cross stitch project from the lovely Trouvaille Stitch Kits. I’ve dabbled in some embroidery and found an abstract style that I really enjoy doing. But one thing I need to pick back up is this blog – I’ve got lots of ideas, but working in marketing means that I get a bit sick of content by the end of the day. But this is my baby, so I will fall back in love with it.
3. Learn more about other areas of Teesside
I haven’t been the best at this, I can’t lie. I used to live in the centre of Middlesbrough, so getting out and exploring the local area was easy. But now I live closer to Durham and I work a fair bit from home, so I’m not all that close to Teesside anymore. That being said, I’ve got to know Darlington a lot more thanks to my new job! And some other places I want to get more familiar with are Guisborough, Redcar and Marske. Some weekend trips out are definitely needed.
4. Get into a regular gym routine
I feel like I was in a really good routine for the start of the year. I was really enjoying my trips and I was feeling good about the work I was doing. But I suffer with on/off back pain, which typically flares up a couple of times a year and lasts for a couple of months. I had a flare up at the start of the year, which left a bit of lasting damage in my hip, and as I’m writing this, I’m in the heights of another flare up, which is the worst I’ve ever had because of the hip. So the gym has been on pause for a little bit, but I’m determined to get back because I love how it makes me feel!
5. Take the steps to kickstart a project
So I have a bit of imposter syndrome with this and I have a feeling it’s going to get in the way. Plus, I have a million other ideas that I want to turn into reality – it’s a matter of knowing what to do first. I have hopes that this project will come to fruition one day, but right now, it’s taking a bit of a backseat.
Some of these goals need a bit of work, but I’m pretty chuffed with how I’m getting on. Writing this post has spurred me on to try a bit harder, so come December, when I write my goals for 2023 (that year doesn’t even sound real!), I’ll have some good progress to share with you all.
Did you set yourself some goals for 2022? How are you getting on with them?
