About the Harrogate Majestic Hotel & Spa

Taken from the website – “Built in 1900, The Majestic Hotel is a palatial and stately Victorian property that sits in the heart of the beautiful spa town of Harrogate.

Surrounded by acres of beautifully landscaped gardens that overlook the town, our hotel is home to Carters Champagne Bar & Grill, Fredericks Lounge & Terrace and The Harrogate Spa alongside 184 modern guest bedrooms and event spaces hosting up to 650 delegates or opulent weddings alike.”

The Majestic Hotel and Spa Harrogate has a beautiful vintage charm

And the building still retains its Victorian charms, both outside and inside. Think stunning architecture, large columns, plush textiles and artwork, and just a real sense of style.

The spa is newly refurbished and a stunning space to unwind in. The Harrogate Spa compromises a gym, fitness studio, 12.5-meter heated indoor swimming pool, and a range of thermal experiences, including a Himalayan salt sauna and Eucalyptus steam room. There’s also the gorgeous spa garden, which invites you to relax completely in the 10-person outdoor hot tub.

Our spa experience

Now we LOVE a spa day. There’s nothing quite like a leisurely swim, mocktails on the side of the pool, taking a seat in a steam room, and maybe treating yourself to a massage. And these are all things that you can enjoy at the Harrogate Spa!

We kickstarted our break in the spa. We got changed in the modern and spacious changing rooms, and headed to our table in the airy lounge. If you book a spa break or spa day, you can enjoy some lunch from the spa menu. This includes the fantastic healthy Bento boxes – we had oriental sticky chicken with seasonal salad and chocolate brownie, and it was so delicious! But if you don’t fancy lunch, there’s always the afternoon tea or charcuterie board, which would be perfect if you were having a celebratory spa trip. The menu also includes a huge range of drinks, but I highly recommend indulging in the cocktails!

The spa itself was truly beautiful, clean and super easy to navigate. Everything was all in one place, so you could swim some lengths in the pool, then get out and walk straight into the sauna or steam room. The mud rasul room is also by the pool, so if you want to invigorate your skin and hair with nourishing mineral muds, I definitely recommend this.

It was so incredibly lovely for us to have the time to just go at our own pace and really relax. We were about to move house the week after our visit, so our visit to the Harrogate Spa came at just the right time. We really enjoyed the outdoor hot tub and the pool the most.

The Majestic Harrogate Hotel and Spa offers a range of spa treatments

We also got to try out a treatment, which was so exciting. At The Harrogate Spa, guests are treated to an exquisite array of ESPA spa treatments designed to rejuvenate the mind, body, and soul. The skilled therapists use a combination of expert techniques and high-quality products to ensure a truly pampering experience.

I chose to have an Express ESPA facial and it was absolutely amazing. I got to choose the scents that I wanted the therapist to use and we had a quick consultation about the condition of my skin at the time. She also used specialist technology during the treatment to take a closer look at my skin to see the exact problem areas. It was one of the best facials I’ve had and I came away feeling as if I was floating on a cloud – so relaxed!

The rooms in the Majestic Harrogate Hotel and Spa are so big and spacious

Our stay experience

Once we’d reached peak tranquillity in the spa, we decided to head up to our room for the night. Thankfully, there’s two lifts to help you get up to your room, which is exactly what we needed after our treatments made us so sleepy. But you can also walk up the grand stairs if you want to get some steps in! Finding our room was really easy, thanks to the pointers on the wall, and pretty soon, we’d unlocked the door to our cosy space for the night.

I’m not fibbing when I say this room was massive… potentially big enough to have a game of rounders in! There was so much space in both the bedroom and bathroom. Plus, we had a gorgeous view from our window of the grounds with the Harrogate buildings in the background. It was so lovely to look at, especially in the morning!

We had a huge, comfy bed, which had been adorned with towel swans and rose petals, as well as a warm chocolate chip cookie and hazelnut chocolate treat to welcome us to the room. I thought that these were really gorgeous touches. Once we’d brought our things in and got ourselves ready for bed, we settled in for an incredible sleep.

In the morning, breakfast was served in Carters Champagne Bar & Grill, and what a beautiful room! The seating was so plush, there were big chandeliers, and the giant windows let in so much light. We were taken to our table, given juice and talked through the breakfast buffet. There was everything you could possibly think of – eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit, yogurt, waffles, pastries, the list goes on. We were truly spoiled for choice and everything we had was sensational. My favourite had to be my combination of a warm waffle, natural yogurt, mixed berries and honey – delicious!

Check out was 12pm, so we were in no rush with our breakfast or to leave. The whole experience of the stay and the morning after were just like the spa… really laidback and at a leisurely pace. It was so amazing to step out of our busy schedules for once and just enjoy treating ourselves.
