Darlington By The Sea – Sat 19th to Wed 23rd – five days of sea, sand and sun (hopefully) as Darlington Market Square is turned into a giant sandpit, plus rides, face painting and craft activities. Free entry.
Foam Party Fridays at Tweddle Farm – Sat 19th July to Sun 31st Aug – the summer holidays have never been more fun than with a foam party every Friday at Tweddle Farm! Included in farm day ticket price.
Shanties on the Shore with the Saltburn Smugglers – Fri 25th – pull up a deckchair and join the Saltburn Smugglers at the top promenade for an evening of sea shanties. Free entry, but donations welcome for RNLI and the Smugglers.

Ideas for national days
Independent Retailer Month – it’s always a good idea to shop with independents and small businesses, but July is Independent Retailer Month! It’s a celebration of all things small biz. Take the opportunity to support you favourites, either by shopping with them, engaging with their content on social media or telling your friends about them.
National Picnic Month – pack up a picnic and head to a green space to enjoy. My favourites are West Park in Darlington, Summerhill Country Park in Hartlepool and Saltburn Valley Country Park.
National Give Something Away Day on Tues 15th – are there things in your house that would be better off donated to a local charity shop?
National Ice Cream Day on Sun 20th – of course, enjoy a lemon top on the Teesside coast! Grab the original from Pacittos in Redcar, try a funky twist from Gabrielle’s in Redcar, or walk Saltburn Pier with a cone in hand.
International Self Care Day on Thurs 24th – treat yourself to a spa day or a spa treatment like a massage from the new Blackwell Grange Hotel Spa. Get curled up with a new book from DRAKE The Bookshop or Back Of Beyond Bookshop in Sedgefield. Try your hand at a new hobby or spend some time out in fresh air, like at Ropner Park or Preston Park.
