Events to look out for
Guisborough Christmas Festival – Tues 2nd – The town’s annual Christmas Festival brings together a lively parade of Santa and his reindeer, a magical grotto at Sunnyfield House, fairground rides, live music and entertainment, and plenty of community cheer. It’s the perfect winter-evening outing for families and friends to celebrate the season together.
Marske Christmas Festival – Thurs 4th – Once again Marske Community Partnership are organising their annual Christmas Festival. The Pipers will be leading the parade and Santa will be at the back setting off at 6pm from Errington School. Santa will be in his Grotto in The White House on Redcar Road 3.30pm till 5:30pm and 6:30pm till approx. 8.30pm. There will be a fantastic craft fair in Marske Leisure Centre from 3.30pm until 7:30pm where you will be able to get hot food, drinks, and mulled wine.
Festive Evenings at Ormesby Hall – Fri 5th and Fri 12th – Experience a winter’s evening at Ormesby Hall with festive music, food and drink stalls to enjoy by the fire pit, as well as a chance to see the house decorated for Christmas at night. Normal admission applies to access this event and no pre-booking is required.
Stockton Sparkles Lantern Parade – Sun 7th – It’s the most wonderful time of the year, as the Lantern Parade arrives at Stockton Sparkles! The annual Illuminated Lantern Parade will bring the festive cheer, returning to Stockton High Street, with hundreds of school and community groups will dazzle their way sporting a glittering array of community created lanterns, street theatre and atmospheric festive music.
Santa on Wheels – Thurs 11th to Sun 14th – Stockton’s famous Santa on Wheels is back to tour the town. Santa will wave and cheer across the whole of the Borough.
Saltburn Ice Trail – Sat 13th – Step into a winter wonderland on Saturday, 13th December 2025, as Saltburn hosts a magical one-day Ice Sculpture Trail from 10am to 4pm. This year’s pantomime-themed ice sculptures are sure to amaze, with nine spectacular creations to discover. Families can take part in a fun competition by uncovering the secrets hidden within each sculpture. Highlights include a live ice carving demonstration and a workshop featuring an ice post box, where elves will help children write and post their letters to Santa.
Darlington Ice Sculpture Trail – Sat 13th – Darlington’s Ice Sculpture Trail returns on Saturday 13th December! A total of 14 magical ice sculptures, including well known characters, including Peppa Pig and SpongeBob Squarepants, Christmas classics and a few surprises, will be unveiled around the town centre on Saturday 13 December, from 11am until 4pm.
Redcar Christmas Santa Ride – Thurs 18th – Hop on your bike and join the Redcar Christmas Santa Ride for festive fun and holiday cheers! Bring the whole family for a jolly good time. Don’t forget to wear your favorite Christmas sweater or a Santa hat and be prepared to spread joy and laughter everywhere you go.
A Fairytale Christmas at Ormesby Hall – until Mon 22nd – The rooms of Ormesby Hall are adorned with sparkling lights and fantastical decorations for your very own fairy tale adventure! Venture into the Snow Queen’s realm, dress for Cinderella’s ball, make a Christmas wish with a genie and more. The decorated hall is open every Friday to Monday, from Friday 28th November until Monday 22nd December, 10.30am to 4pm.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears at Darlington Hippodrome – Fri 5th to Wed 31st – For four weeks only Darlington Hippodrome will be transformed into a sensational circus, where everything is possible, and anything could (and will) happen. This festive extravaganza is packed with riotous comedy, extraordinary special effects, hair-raising stunts and international circus acts! Twilight Christmas Evenings at Preston Park Museum – Thurs 4th, 11th and 18th – This Christmas, discover Preston Park Museum in a whole new light. As evening falls, our cobbled Victorian Street transforms into a winter wonderland, twinkling with fairy lights, adorned with traditional garlands, and wreaths on every doorway. Back by popular demand, the museum will host three special late-night openings in December, offering visitors the chance to experience the museum after dark.
