February half term has a habit of silently sneaking up. One minute it’s January, the next you’re frantically Googling “things to do with the kids that get them out of the house and will actually keep them busy.” Luckily, Teesside has plenty up its sleeve to keep everyone entertained, whatever the weather decides to do (and let’s be honest, it could be all four seasons in one day). From outdoor adventures for the welly-wearing crowd to cosy indoor activities when the rain inevitably arrives, there’s no shortage of ways to fill the week.

Chinese New Year in Darlington town centre (FREE) – Darlington are celebrating the Chinese New Year with free family activities. Come down to the town centre between 11am and 3pm for a special trail and craft activities.
Chinese New Year at Hopetown Darlington (FREE) – We’ll be celebrating the year of the horse with the S&DR 26 Mile Team doing some fabulous horse crafts drop-in sessions. We are also thrilled to welcome traditional Chinese Lion Dancers!

February Half Term Activities at Ormesby Hall – Let imaginations soar during half term at Ormesby Hall! Exploring an Alice in Wonderland inspired trail throughout the house, garden and stables, children will be able to get lost in a world of books during February half-term. Can you find the characters from Alice in Wonderland and complete the activities along the way? From reading a story together in the library to practicing drawing skills in the dining room, there’s something for all the family this February half term.
Hartlepool Marina Half Term Fun Fair – Murphy’s & Coopers Funfairs return with a brilliant half term fair at Hartlepool Marina, packed with rides, lights, and family fun for all ages. Open daily from 1-8pm (Thursday 19th and Friday 20th only: 5:30-8pm) and £1 entry fee.

The Sleep Show at The Hullabaloo – The Sleep Show is a dreamy performance which transforms the mysteries of sleep into a playful adventure. It mixes captivating dance and imaginative storytelling to explore all the funny and frustrating parts of trying to fall asleep, the fidgeting, the big thoughts, and that feeling of not wanting to miss a thing.
Last Unicorn Airways at ARC Stockton – Join two whimsical baggage handlers as they recreate a fantastical round-the-world adventure aboard the final flight of Last Unicorn Airways, opening suitcases brimming with trinkets, fine clothes, alluring smells and exciting tales. Among these treasures lies a special case containing The Flying Trunk, a captivating Arabian Nights-inspired fable about a daring, globe-trotting storyteller with nothing but a magical flying suitcase!
Pirate Play at Kirkleatham Museum – There’s so many things to do for families at Kirkleatham Museum and Grounds this February half term, and amongst it all is an event programme jam-packed with pirate themed fun! There’ll be crafts, an adventure trail, play sessions and a pirate show!
MIMA Family Art Trolley (FREE) – Join us with family and friends to make your own masterpiece using a range of materials and making techniques. Stay for lunch and pick up a picnic from the MIMA Kitchen for £1 per child when visiting the Family Art Trolley.
Big Kid Circus: Jurassic at Teesside Park – The Jurassic themed circus will be located opposite Showcase Cinema, presenting two hours of incredible entertainment with aerial acts, acrobatics, stunts, comedy, dance, live music and more! For the first time in the UK, audiences will see a 28ft-wide dinosaur as part of the show — a spectacular highlight that’s sure to amaze both kids and adults.
