Darlington Libraries BookFest – Mon 2 to Sat 7 – Join us for a week long extravaganza to celebrate the wonderful world of books from Monday 2 to Saturday 7 March. All events are FREE but some require booking in advance on Eventbrite.
Teesside Restaurant Week – Mon 2 to Sun 8 – Dine at your favourite Teesside spots with exclusive menus and discounts, or maybe find your new favourite spot. Check out the website to see all the places taking part and book your tables.
A Taste of Redcar & Cleveland – Wed 4 to Sun 15 – Redcar and Cleveland’s finest restaurants, bars and cafés will be offering a variety of mouthwatering deals at prices ranging from £5 to £30+. With so much to choose from, you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy!
Loftus Village of Light – Fri 6 and Sat 7 – Come and enjoy shared moments after dark in the heart of Loftus, over two evenings from 6–9pm, the park will be transformed into an illuminated village created by local people working alongside our handpicked artists. Alongside the lanterns, each evening will include storytelling, performance and chances to get creative together. Expect moments of surprise, shared laughter and places to pause and take it all in. Village of Light is free to attend and open to all ages.
Billy No Mates Co-Working at Baker Street Kitchen – Wed 11 – Are you a freelancer or remote worker and fancy meeting some new mates? Let’s work together… Join the Billy No Mates for some friendly coworking at Baker Street Kitchen in Middlesbrough from 2-5pm. Koze Conversations with Daisy Best – Thurs 26 – An inspiring evening with Daisy Best, who is paddle boarding the UK’s canals to raise funds for Teesside Mind. The Magic Faraway Trail in Darlington town centre – Sat 28 – Free activity trail to mark the release of the new movie, The Magic Faraway Tree.
Tees Zine Fest at Dundas Shopping Centre – Sat 28 – The Boro edition of Tees Zine Works will be held in the main mall from 10am-4pm. This little festival shines a spotlight on the creative spirit in small, self-published works and brings together creators, collectors and distributers of Zines (Mini magazines) and cover a wide range of topics including football, art and animals.

WOW North East International Women’s Day Celebrations at Middlesbrough Theatre – Sun 8 – Celebrate International Women’s Day as WOW North East returns for an unmissable afternoon of local stories, inspiring interviews and (many) reasons to be hopeful. This special event launches The Hope Brigade North East, a new photography exhibition featuring work by Joanne Coates, created in partnership with S&DR200. It celebrates the many extraordinary – often unsung – women and non-binary people working in our local communities to improve people’s lives.

Solve Along A Murder She Wrote at The Hullabaloo – Wed 25 – Cult hit event Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote returns to Darlington with an interactive screening of the classic Murder, She Wrote episode “Old Habits Die Hard”. Jessica Fletcher visits a former sorority sister (now a nun) in a convent, but soon there’s a murder that only she (or you!) can solve! Over 30s Dayclub at Middlesbrough Empire – Sat 28 – After sell out shows around the UK we touch touch down again in Middlesbrough. Special guest performing live on stage, Kelly Llorenna, the voice behind so many anthems from back in the day. Her hits include Tell It To My Heart, Heart Of Gold, Forever and the voice of the iconic Set You Free by N-Trance. You do not want to miss this!

Women in Wine tasting event at Fourteen Drops Market Hall – Sun 8 – This International Women’s Day we’re hosting an evening dedicated to the women shaping the wine world. Time Traveller Talks with Martin Peagam at Preston Park Museum – Wed 4 – Join Martin as he brings centuries of local history to life, exploring the people, places and moments that shaped our region. This month’s talk is ‘Putting Ladies on a Pedestal’, featuring impressive, but little known, Teesside women – over 100 ladies in 60 minutes!
IWD Teesside Archives drop-in at Dorman Museum – Fri 6 – To celebrate international Women’s Day, Teesside Archives is hosting a drop-in session in conjunction with Middlesbrough Soroptomists. Take a chance to see some of the exciting documents they hold relating to women’s history and meet some of the members of Middlesbrough Soroptomists.
Heritage Weekend at Hopetown Darlington – Sat 7 and Sun 8 – On the first full weekend of every month the doors to Darlington Locomotive Works and the 1861 Shed are opened for you to engage with Darlington’s pioneering and ongoing railway engineering. They’re free to visit and each month will engage with a different railway-related theme. Enjoy interactive demonstrations, practical activities, engineering talks, and hands-on experiences as you explore the workshops, chat with friendly volunteers, and stop by the merchandise stand for souvenirs to take home.
Brilli-ANT! at Hopetown Darlington – until Sun 15 – Grab your interactive ant wand, enter the Carriage Works and journey deep into a sculpted anthill made entirely of recycled material. St David’s Day – Sun 1 – wear a daffodil or have a go at baking Welsh cakes.
British Pie Week – Mon 2 to Sun 8 – indulge in a pie from your local butcher’s or bakers. Mine are Blackwell’s and Bluecorn Bakery, and both are fantastic!
World Book Day – Thurs 5 – this definitely isn’t just for kids! Share your favourite books on social media and pop into one of our local bookshops to pick up your next read. Try DRAKE, Book Corner or Guisborough Bookshop.
International Women’s Day – Sun 8 – say a big thank you to the women in your life. Treat them to a little something or spend some time doing some reading on key women from the area, such as Gertrude Bell.
Mother’s Day – Sun 15 – book an afternoon tea (try Wynyard Hall or Robineau Patisserie), have a trip to the theatre, or pre-order from a local florist. Or if you want to do something a bit different, have a walk at Alpaca Alpaca or take her axe throwing at Asgard Axe Hall.
St Patrick’s Day – Tues 17 – if you ever needed an excuse to try a Guinness, this it it.
