October 2022 Gratitude List – Cosy Vibes & Spooky Season

Ask me my favourite month and I won’t hesitate to tell you that it’s October. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. There’s just something so magical about the darker nights, crisp mornings and all the golden trees. Sure, maybe I’m romanticising it a bit, but it really is a lovely month, isn’t it?

As with the end of any month, it’s time for me to share the five things that I was grateful for. It wasn’t a mega action-packed October, but it was full to the brim of lots of happy things. So take a look at my list below!

Freelance work – I don’t advertise myself as a freelancer, but I was approached by someone in October to help out with their social media. As it was for a local cause and involving lots of local businesses, I couldn’t say no! It was great to get stuck in and to even read a comment from someone that said they loved the tone of the social posts. It’s a really lovely thing to work on! If you want to chat about social media or web content, don’t be shy. Ping me an email!

Autumn’s arrival – October 100% saw the arrival of autumn and you could feel the change in the air. It seemed to get rainier, the nights got way darker, the temperature was cooler and the air was crisper. There was a stretch of road near our house with a line of beautifully orange trees and when the sun shone through the just right, it was magic. The only sad thing is that autumn doesn’t stick around for long, so I tried to make the most of it while I could.

So much baking – autumn is the season for baking, which is something that I used to do a lot of, but I struggle to make time for it nowadays. But I baked three times in October! That included white chocolate and blueberry cupcakes, Halloween brownies, and malted millionaire’s shortbread (and every single one was a triumph, if I do say so myself). And I saw people baking my Bloody Millionaire’s Shortbread or things inspired by them, which is always really really cool.

All the Halloweeny things – arguably, one of the best things about all Octobers is the spooky stuff that appears everywhere. I really loved the build up to Halloween this year – I enjoyed all the new scary bits of Netflix, seeing all the local businesses making their spooky products, and picking pumpkins from East Grange. I think I want to make that a yearly tradition! We left it a bit last minute to carve them this year (literally until Halloween night), but we always have good fun doing it.

Super fun events – I don’t know what was in the air in October, but there were some really cool events that I was invited along to. That included the launch of the incredible new Babul’s in Darlington, a visit to Life by Luxmuralis at Durham Cathedral, and an evening at Hatchet Harry’s Middlesbrough. Honestly, I have to pinch myself constantly and I’m always reminding myself just how lucky I am to be able to have these experiences. I just need to get better at writing about them on here as well as on Instagram!

And there’s just a little look at my October! I hope yours was equally as lovely and that you’ve been enjoying November so far. Let me know what you were grateful for.
