You all know how much I love a good burger. I even wrote a whole blog post dedicated to the best burgers in Teesside, but now I’ll have to extend that list because Burgerlicious has landed! And as the name would suggest, this place is serving up burgers to the people of Boro, and I’m pretty certain they’re gonna take the town by storm.
Where is Burgerlicious?
First things first, you’ve got to know where to find this new burger place in order to try their food. You can visit Burgerlicious at 242-242a Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 3QP. There’s street parking all along Linthorpe Road that’s free after 6PM, or up to 2 hours for £2. But there are plenty of other places to park too!
When is Burgerlicious open?
Burgerlicious officially opens on Monday 10th January and will be open 7 days a week, so you can get your burger fix whenever you need it! It’ll be open from 12PM-11PM – ideal for a quick lunch or to grab a bite to eat before hitting the town.
What kind of food can you order?
As the name might give away, Burgerlicious is all about burgers, but not just any kind of burger. They’re bringing smash burgers to Boro, featuring beef patties that are flattened (or smashed) to make them thinner and more flavoursome. This type of burger has become a global sensation, and we’re going to have a spot dedicated to them in Middlesbrough! I went along to the launch evening and I can confirm that the burgers are incredible. They’re super juicy and the buns are just bursting to the brim.
If you don’t like a beef burger, then not to worry. There’s also a fantastic selection of chicken, fish and veggie burgers, so there’s something for everyone. There’s a whole host of extras too, like mozzarella dippers, loaded fries, chicken strips, and so much more. As well as food, their sister business, Chaiilicious, will be serving up South Asian chaii, a tea that has roots in India and Pakistan. There’ll also be masala chaii, ginger tea, desi coffee, milk cake, and lots of other South Asian treats to try.
How much does the food cost?
One of the most exciting things about this new spot is that the prices are extremely affordable. They’re in a prime location for students to try and the food will be very kind to your loan too! The Licious Single B (smashed beef patty with lettuce, cheese and burger sauce) starts at just £1.75, going up to the Extreme Smash (2 x Angus 3oz smashed patties, 1 x Oldham chicken burger, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, cheese sauce, and burger sauce) at £8.75, with lots of choice in between.
And everything is created from the best quality produce. Owner Amer Ditta said, “It’s one of our biggest goals to use fresh produce so our beef burgers are Angus Prime Beef and our Oldham chicken burgers are inspired by the town of Oldham in Kentucky, where the chicken burger was apparently first created in the 1800s.”
How do I book a table at Burgerlicious?

What else do I need to know about this restaurant?
Well, if you need any guarantee that the food’s going to be good, this spot is owned by the family behind Akbar’s. Amer said, “myself and my family have been in the food industry for almost 20 years now, we first opened Akbar’s on Linthorpe Road in 2009 and it’s been one of the most popular restaurants in Boro ever since. I hope that Burgerlicious will become a true institution in the same way that Akbar’s is.”
So basically, if you love the food and atmosphere in Akbar’s, you’re going to love the whole Burgerlicious set up. Trust me, it’s an absolutely fantastic spot and I think it’s going to thrive in the town centre!
