Goodbye to an absolutely marvellous March 💛 I’m n Goodbye to an absolutely marvellous March 💛

I’m not sure I could’ve dreamed up a more gorgeous month to be honest with you.

First of all, my birthday weekend. What a genius move to have 4 days off because wow, were they crammed with so much loveliness! Brunch, shuffleboard, seals, birds, a roast, a trip to the garden centre, what more could I ask for?

Secondly, we went to see David Byrne as a family which was SO special. Talking Heads and David Byrne are two of my mum’s fave, which have now passed on to me and my sister, so getting to see him perform together was so lush. And listen, he’s in vvv good form! So I obv had to use a song for the soundtrack to this reel 🥰

Some other highlights included taking myself to Ormesby Hall for a solo day out. I’m trying to get better at going places on my Todd and even though I was a bit anxious at first, I ended up having a lovely time and the weather was glorious to boot.

We also got more stuff sorted for the baby arriving (everything is starting to feel so real!) and spent lots of time the garden. We went to a 40th birthday party and absolutely smashed our cinema membership, seeing Hoppers, One Battle After Another, Sinners, Wuthering Heights and Project Hail Mary. We also did a free walk with Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and discovered a nature haven on our doorstep that we had no idea about!

What were your March highlights?

Go seal spotting at Seal Sands 🦭 At a glance on a Go seal spotting at Seal Sands 🦭

At a glance on a map, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Seal Sands is mainly an industrial landscape. But if you carry on along Seaton Carew Road, you’ll find the mudflats with two hides (and free parking) where you can spot seals and wading birds!

This is the only area of inter-tidal mud flat between Lindisfarne to its north and the Humber to the south, and the industry gives it a secluded, unique feel, so it really is worth a look if you’re a nature lover.

You should be able to see seals all year round, but it’s recommended to visit in winter for your best chance!

**This should go without saying, but the seals are wild animals, so please use the two hides and don’t approach the animals.

Your weekend could look like this 😍 @signalssaltb Your weekend could look like this 😍

@signalssaltburn have had a little refurb and new menu, and I thought it was high time I took myself for a solo brunch date. Sun, sea and stunning scran? Yes please.

And I came hungry because I knew there were a couple of things I wanted to try, but I started with the loaded hash browns. Think crispy hash browns with bacon, cheese, a fried egg and chorizo oil. Yes, it was incredibly naughty, but so bloomin good for the soul. It felt like such a treat!

But the thing that I had most of my attention on, the pièce de résistance, was the caramelised banana bread. OH. MY. WORD. This was beautiful. The clue’s in the name, the banana bread had a gorgeous caramelised sugar crust and it was topped with a lime infused Greek yogurt and surrounded by brown sugar caramel. Every bite was heaven! The banana bread was light and I loved the brunch on the edge, and the lime yogurt was stunning with the caramel.

The coffee at Signals is fab because they use their own Runway beans, but on this sunny day, I fancied a smoothie and it was the vitality that caught my heart. Packed with pineapple, mango, banana, papaya, ginger, flax seed, goji berries, baobab, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds, it was like a bit of healthy sunshine in a glass.

This is the perfect spot for a weekend brunch, so get it on your list ☀️

This is the newest and most incredible place for t This is the newest and most incredible place for tapas in Middlesbrough! 😍 [ad - gifted]

@bazaar.restaurant has already established itself as a fantastic, top dining option in the town centre, with a beautiful menu and wow factor interiors, but they’ve totally outdone themselves with their new tapas menu.

I’m talking about small plates that are actually affordable and of the highest quality. And when I say affordable, I mean it. At the bottom end of the menu, you’ve got the baby moonbread for 50p and at the very top end, you’ve got lobster ravioli or sirloin steak for £5. Yes, seriously! 🦞

We were lucky to sample pretty much the entire menu, but here’s the top hits for our table:

- Lobster ravioli with shellfish bisque - the bisque was a particular favourite, and the ravioli itself was so well made with a lovely flavour that didn’t overpower anything else on the table

- Short rib and roasted onion wrap - this had a lovely kick to it and was the perfect thing to dip in the platter of homemade hummus, yogurt and tzatziki

- Sirloin steak, green peppercorn sauce and roasted onion - incredible quality and the most tender meat served exactly how I like it!

- Moroccan lamb tagine - this was utterly melt in the mouth and had a gorgeous tomato flavour. I wish I’d thought to spread it on some moonbread!

- Chargrilled lamb kofta with spicy tomato sauce on rice - an absolute classic and it was perfect with the rich tomato sauce.

I can’t express enough just how beautiful the food was. We were blown away, given the price tag, but top quality is what you’d expect at Bazaar! I love that this menu is accessible for everyone, whether you’re a small plates connoisseur or someone who’s never tried this style of dining before.

When you visit, make sure you save some room for dessert because the intricately layered honey cake or the baklava truly aren’t to be missed.

The tapas menu runs from 12-4pm on Mon-Sat, PLUS 12-9pm on Tues-Thurs!

@thetuliplounge is the perfect place to get in the @thetuliplounge is the perfect place to get in the Easter spirit 🐣

Chocolate fans, their Easter limited edition pancakes are for you. Think two of the fluffiest pancakes piled with Nutella, brownie pieces, cornflake crunch and Mini Eggs. It’s an absolute stunner for those of us with a sweet tooth!

I saw these pancakes go live on their Insta and knew I had to give them a go. And honestly, the pancakes at the Tulip Lounge are some of the best I’ve had in the area, and that’s even without all of the toppings! But wow, was this stack an Easter dream come true. I did have to take some home in a box because it was so filling, but it truly isn’t one to miss 🥞

Don’t worry if you haven’t got a sweet tooth, the menu is huge and there’s plenty more options, like the classic Full English (or the Turkish breakfast if you fancy something a bit different!).

Don’t miss out on these pancakes - they’re available now!

If street food and seaside vibes are up your stree If street food and seaside vibes are up your street, you’ll LOVE @majubasunsetmarket ☀️ [ad]

After the roaring success of last year’s pilot, the market is making its grand return on Friday 1 May from 4-9pm on the gorgeous Redcar seafront. And it’s going to be bigger and even more delicious than last time with a fantastic line up of street food vendors, including:

- @chicken_ting_peri - bringing incredible fried chicken
- @thelittlepoffertjepancakeshack - think mini Dutch pancakes with oodles of toppings
- @greedytedsguisborough - the most fantastic pizzas from a lush local restaurant
- @gratestofalltoast - naughty toasties that ooze with every bite
- @parmorama - it wouldn’t be a Teesside coastal market without parmos!
- @letshogroast - super tender meat in sarnies
- @sugarlovedonuts - unbelievable doughnuts in a huge range of flavours
- @hungryseagullseaton - unmissable sweet treats, like churros and chocolate strawbs
- @tapgarden - your one stop shop for cocktails on the coast

There’s even more street food to discover, and that’s not to mention the artisan traders too. Make sure you’ve got some room in your bag to carry everything home!

To top all of the food off, there’ll be live music from local musicians, so what more could you want? You’ll be tucking into something delicious, watching the performances, and taking in the sea air as the sun goes down. Gorgeous!

This is a free event and is going to be absolutely brilliant, so follow @majubasunsetmarket for more updates and get Friday 1 May in your diaries 🏖️

@notch_durham have a whole new vibe and a new menu @notch_durham have a whole new vibe and a new menu to try out 🍕 [ad - gifted]

What do you get when you fuse Italian inspiration with American smokehouse meats and grills? The brand new Notch Americano! It’s the same Notch that you know and love, but with a little extra something.

We shared one of the new pinsas to start, a long pizza cut into eight that begs to be shared. You absolutely can have this as your main meal, but we split our pesto pinsa with a side of chipotle and honey BBQ burnt ends, and it was the perfect way to start the meal.

The pastas are one of the new additions to the menu, so I tried out the ragu with tagliatelle, and it was incredible. It took me right back to eating in Naples! It wasn’t smothered in sauce, but had just enough to add a tomatoey flavour to the pasta and the brisket just melted in the mouth.

Matthew chose the parmo, which was lush, so if you’re looking out for a parmo outside of Teesside, this could be the one. It uses an original 1950s recipe from the owner’s grandads who helped to bring the parmo to Teesside (look out for the framed menu on your way in!), so it’s authentic! There was a great amount of cheese, a generous slathering of bech and the chicken was juicy.

We couldn’t say no to dessert, even though we were stuffed, and Matthew chose the tiramisu, another Italian inspired dish. It was just the right amount of boozy and creamy, and the coffee was fantastic.

I went for the Biscoff sticky toffee pudding and this might just be the best STP I’ve ever had. It was so rich and soaked with toffee sauce, making the whole cake gooey and moreish.

Go check out @notch_durham’s new menu! We’ll be back soon to try out some of the burgers because they look AMAZING 😍
